NCAA Football Week 13 Preview - Page 7

Part of: BC Tailgate

But here's the problem - Hawaii's only shot at beating Boise State is to go through the air because they don't have much in terms of a ground game, and the Broncos have a tough pass defense letting up under 200 passing yards a game. The two teams otherwise match up well, and I'm expecting at the end of the day to see Boise State celebrating yet another WAC title. Enjoy playing another home game in the Hawaii Bowl, June Jones.

Oh yeah, and there's other stuff going on this week in the WAC:

Saturday, November 24

Utah State @ New Mexico State (2:00 p.m. Eastern)

Congratulations to Utah State on winning their first game of the year against New Mexico State. That still doesn't change the fact that this is going to be a match-up of the WAC's bottom-feeders, but it does mark one first this season: I think Utah State will win a close one and get their second win of the season.

Kansas State @ Fresno State (3:30 p.m. Eastern)

A win here all but solidifies a bowl game for Fresno State, who currently sits third in the WAC standings. This is definitely a game Fresno State can win, and I expect them to, which means they'll likely be kicking off the bowl season in the New Mexico Bowl.

Nevada @ San Jose State (4:00 p.m. Eastern)

The wheels have fallen off the San Jose State bus, as the Spartans have lost just about every game since they lost to Hawaii. Their defense has started hemorrhaging touchdowns while their offense is going ice cold. Nevada's last game was also a loss to Hawaii, but they've had a week to prep for this game, and I expect that the Wolfpack will become bowl-eligible with their sixth win. They'd better just pray that Hawaii miraculously makes it to the BCS... or they're probably not going to any bowls.

WAC Conference Standings

#14 Hawaii - 7-0 (10-0)
#17 Boise State - 7-0 (10-1)
Fresno State - 5-2 (6-4)
Louisiana Tech - 4-3 (5-6)
Nevada - 3-3 (5-5)
San Jose State - 3-4 (4-7)
New Mexico State - 1-6 (4-8)
Utah State - 1-6 (1-10)
Idaho - 0-7 (1-10)

The Big 12 athletic conference should add men's soccer as a sport. Soccer has increased in popularity and boys should have the dream of playing for their favorite Big Twelve team.
