It's hard to imagine that the Reds, Rangers, Rockies, and Tigers are all flirting with first place in their respective divisions. A couple of those teams even owned the lead through the week. It's hard to gauge how many of them — if any — will still be contending for a playoff berth come September.
But the sixth week had a bit of crazy happenings. Again, some statistical anomalies hit the box scores yet again, which is why baseball's so fun to watch time after time — you'll always see something you've never seen before.
Interleague play starts this weekend, but let's take a look back through the eyes of blogs, always in 1000 words or less:
• The Twins' Carlos Silva blew a 7-0 lead in the first inning when the White Sox rallied to win 9-7. Mark Buehrle, who gave up the touchdown in the first, stayed in the game and wound up winning. — The Wizard of Speed and Time
• That Albert Pujols guy is kind of good. While early, he's on pace to hit nearly 200 RBI, which would be a record. — Baseball Musings
• Aaron Rowand has no respect for his nose and all the respect for making the game saving catch. — Philadelphia Will Do
• Hideki Matsui suffers a Godzilla-sized injury to his wrist. — Blogcritics | Dan's Take
• Hey Indians, you're losing too many games. After being swept at home by Detroit, you've just lost six straight. — Cleveland Sports Perspective
• George Clooney, you been readin' about all that? He's trying to get everybody to go over there and solve that thing. Or so says a drunken Rick Sutcliffe on live TV. — Deadspin
• Bill Hall's thinking pink after his walk-off homer Sunday came on a bat honoring Mother's Day and breast cancer awareness. — Open Hockey

Mark only stayed in because most of those seven runs were unearned. Silva's troubles are Lirano's gains. People are saying this guy is actually better than Santana. JESUS!

besides the mets trading kazmir, the yanks not resigning leiber and winding up wright is the worst thing a new york baseball team has done since the mets went to the black uni's.

Suss,
I had both Justin Morneau and Jeff Kent on my bench last week. I'm a genius.

Smart move if it was a Two Eighty league.
