It was a rousing 5-2 weekend at the office last week. Thank you very much, Ohio and Central Michigan, for havin' to go and win.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 10
12 noon — Eastern Michigan (0-4, 0-1) at Central Michigan (4-1, 2-0) (TV: ESPN+/GamePlan/ESPN360)
The military triumvirate of Army/Navy/Air Force has the Commander-In-Chief's trophy. Allow me to introduce to you the first game of the Eastern Michigan/Western Michigan/Central Michigan round-robin land grab. It's the Aluminum Compass!
'Tis probably not EMU's to win this year, since they don't have a win, their senior quarterback, a chance in hell, a leg to stand on, or a dog in the fight. Compound that with CMU's offense, defense, and home field advantage, and you're tuning in just to see some Dan LeFevour stat padding. CMU 38, EMU 18
1 p.m. — Miami (0-5, 0-2) at Northwestern (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) (TV: BTN)
I'll say this about our friends in Oxford; they just keep getting closer and closer to a victory. Oh, they're still nowhere near their first one, but hey. Baby steps. They'll be walkin' and scorin' all over the pants of their foes by, at this rate, sometime next year. Northwestern 23, Miami 17
1 p.m. — Ball State (0-5, 0-1) at Temple (2-2, 2-0) (TV: Nope)
And how about our other winless friends in Muncie who almost shocked UT right in their homing devices? The Rockets pulled some kind of miracle touchdown out of their rectal region to prevent the Cardinals from finally winning a game. The next best chance they have now is a win at the MAC East's reluctant first place team, who I figured would be closer to Ball State's current record than, um, first place. I refuse to believe the contender status of the Owls, despite true freshman running back Bernard Pierce's tremendous start. It ends here. Ball State 31, Temple 20
3:30 p.m. — Bowling Green (1-4, 0-1) at Kent State (2-3, 1-0) (TV: FS Ohio/ESPN GamePlan/ESPN360)
I know what you're thinking. God damn, that's one hell of a 1-4 team. Probably the best one out there. Really? Let's look at the others:
• Purdue
• Memphis
• Buffalo
• Washington State
Really? That seems like ... not many teams. Okay, let's expand it to 1-3 teams:
• Virginia
• Colorado
• Louisville
• Illinois
• Akron
• Arkansas State
• Fresno State
• Utah State

You're a grade-A clown, Mr. Sussman. I hope you're not a member of the tribe, because we don't claim you. Clownshoe.

"pulled some kind of miracle touchdown out of their rectal region"
Pretty much the same place you pulled most of these predictions.

Wow, all three Temple fans came out of the woodwork.
