MAC Football Preview, Week 4: Be Gentle, Boise State

Part of: MACrimony

How's about going 11-1 in picks? I'd be happy, the one I got wrong was Bowling Green. I may as well have gone 0-12. Trust me, I won't make that same mistake again this week.

Noon — Buffalo (1-2) at Temple (0-2) (TV: ESPN+, GamePlan)

2008: Hail Mary, full of grace, Drew Willy is with thee. Blessed art thou among Buffalo, blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Naaman. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for Turner Gill, now and at the hour of when he coaches Auburn next year. Amen.

2009: Drew Willy's out, Zach Maynard's in. Naaman Roosevelt continues to line up as the second best receiver in the MAC. But Temple is still Temple, which is like dreaming you're naked in a crowded room, then waking up naked in a crowded room. Buffalo 31, Temple 18

3:30 p.m. — Akron (1-2) at Central Michigan (2-1) (TV: FS Detroit, FS Ohio, ESPN GamePlan)

This week we say goodbye prematurely to two unheralded senior quarterbacks. Eastern Michigan (idle) lost Andy Schmitt for the season to a torn ACL. Akron's senior leader, Chris Jacquemain, seems perfectly healthy but won't play due to a season-long suspension. What team policy did he violate? The world may never know, but they'll have nine more games to figure out how bad they'll be this year. CMU 38, Akron 20

I'm Idaho!3:30 p.m. — Idaho (2-1) at Northern Illinois (2-1) (TV: CSN Chicago, ESPN GamePlan)

Sometimes the schedulers luck out. The way it's looking, NIU and CMU are on a collision course for a MAC West championship game on November 27. Idaho, on the other hand, is a very dry state. Steven Wright could be emperor of it. NIU 42, Idaho 21

7 p.m. — No. 8 Boise State (3-0) at Bowling Green (1-2) (TV: BCSN, GamePlan, ESPN360.com)

This may be a trap game for the Broncos, but just in case it isn't, I've already bought a pair of pre-crapped pants. Boise 28, BGSU 16

7 p.m. — Miami (0-3, 0-1 MAC) at Kent State (1-2) (TV: Nope)

This is Miami's best chance to win a game in the next six weeks. Their second best chance is if the Kent State coach's request to burn down the NCAA is granted. Zac Dysert is replacing the inept Danial Raudabaugh at quarterback. KSU safety Brian Lainhart lapped up three turnovers against Iowa State, so how many will he gain this weekend? No fewer than 19, probably. Kent State 16, Miami 7
