Confounding. Apocalyptic. Unpredictable.
What would be the projected win total if the season started today? Is a trip back to the playoffs within reach in the near (or very distant) future? Personally, I think this young and spirited team has a chance to surprise some people in the early going.
It's hard to tell how good this team will be until we see how good and influential Evans is on the court. If he can be the hands down Rookie of the Year like I think he will be, this team could approach 30 wins. But as of right now, they're still an inconsistent defensive team. I think they'll rarely be blown out by opposing teams and will be another hard beat at home. But to think this young roster will just come together and get back to the playoffs would be kidding yourself. If I had to peg a number right now for what they'll win with this current makeup, I'd say 28 wins.
And finally, I have not ask: how would a potential move to Anaheim or Las Vegas affect you, as well as the loyal Sacramento fan base?
It would devastate this fanbase and turn a lot of people in this town off of NBA basketball. When there is a good product on the floor, there are few better atmospheres than Arco Arena. It would be a huge mistake to take this team out of this market because it works here and it works really well. As far as myself, I could still follow the team and run the blog from a distant city. Plenty of people do it. But it wouldn't be the same as having this team in my backyard and being able to experience the passion and discussion on a first-hand basis.
