On a near perfect Tuesday night, over 9,000 fans gathered to watch some minor league baseball. Though most came to the root for their hometown heroes, the Columbus Clippers, there were a few in the stands who loudly, and annoyingly, proclaimed their loyalty for the Indianapolis Indians. Not everybody who wanted to come was able to get into the park, so the overflow crowd stood around near the backfield wall, staring in through the mesh.

Though the fans wanted something to cheer about, they certainly were not given it. The Indians started it off early with a very productive first inning. Brian Bixler hit an opening home run, and he was followed by strong hits by Chris Barnwell, Hector Gimenez, and Erik Kratz. Not only were the Indians hitting well, but they were reading the pitches, and both Ryan Doumit and Brian Myrow were walked. By the end of the inning, the Indians had managed to score five runs on five hits.
Throughout the rest of the game, the Clippers were doing their best to catch up. Trevor Crowe and Jordan Brown both managed to get some hits off, extending their streaks to 13 and nine, respectively. Andy Marte, who was just named International League Player of the Week for the second week in a row, also continued his streak, hitting 12 times in the last 14 games. Even though the Clippers hit almost as often as the Indians, they were unable to do anything with it, while the Indians just kept adding runs to the board.
The Great Race
I am starting to believe that there is some sort of large conspiracy in this race. Somehow, maybe through performance enhancing drugs, Relish is just better than the other two hot dogs. Tonight, it was no contest, as Relish ran out of the wall first, and then sprinted all the way to the tape. Mustard was a close second, if you consider 30 feet to be close. Ketchup wasn't even a contender in the race. Tonight's victory gives Relish a fifth race, while Ketchup has 1 and Mustard has none.
