Former Met Batboy Pleads Guilty to Distribution of Steroids and HGH

You can bet your boots that there are a lot of nervous pro baseball players tonight as Kirk Radomski, an ex-bat boy and equipment manager with the New York Mets, has pled guilty to distributing steroids and growth hormone to dozens of major league baseball players from the years 1995-2005, and that Radomski is cooperating with MLB’s steroid investigation.

The authorities have said that Radomski was a major steroid dealer who dealt primarily with major leaguers, and that he was the steroid kingpin for baseball players after Balco Labs got shut down. Reports indicate that at least one of the players on Radomski’s list was also involved with Balco Labs.

According to the Associated Press report, Sports Illustrated quoted from the warrant that was filed in December of 2005 that "numerous significant deposits from current and former [Major League Baseball] players and some affiliated individuals were made to Radomski. He received more than $23,000, pulled from more than 20 different payments between 2003-05 that are alleged to have been made in conjunction with steroids purchases, according to the documents viewed by SI.”

This incident is just the latest development in a case that’s been going on since Victor Conte was busted back in 2003, and will surely dig deeper into the continually-growing steroids in baseball scandal and implicate more players, and as the Sports Illustrated story says, “affiliated individuals.”

It will be interesting to see who these “affiliated individuals” are. Personal trainers, agents, doctors, physical therapists?

Radomski was both a bat boy and an equipment manager – a “clubby” - which means that he had access to the inner workings of the ball club and had access to every player and all of their equipment. One of the interesting elements of the steroids in baseball story that we have not heard anything about is the way in which guys actually acquire and use these drugs during the season.

Batboy? What has the world come to? Are they not still 13 year old boys with zits and a lot of free time? Next thing you are going to tell me is the the past US Presidents took advantage of their office and power for sex.
