The SEC Championship is this Saturday at 4 PM EST on CBS.
It's the kind of match-up every conference with a championship game dreams of - the two top ranked teams in the nation fighting for your league's title and a spot in the BCS Championship Game. Other leagues wish for it, the SEC has it - for the second time in a row.
Rivalry Week
Florida blasted in-state rival Florida State 37-10 with Tim Tebow accounting for the five Gators touchdowns (3 passing, 2 rushing) - like business as usual. Alabama overcame an early 14 point deficit to tie Auburn at the half and had to overcome another Tigers lead to win it's second straight over the in-state rival. The Crimson Tide drove the ball 79 yards over 15 plays in the final minutes to score the go-ahead touchdown.
A game of sevens
Last year's championship game saw Alabama ride a three point lead (20-17) into the third quarter before Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators scored twice to win the crown and propel themselves onward to the BCS National Title.
This will be Florida's tenth trip to the SEC Championship and they've won seven of the contests. This is Alabama's seventh trip having won two titles. It is the seventh time these two teams will face each with Florida holding a 4-2 edge.
Two quarterbacks, two game plans
The game's signal callers couldn't be more of a contrast. In Alabama's Greg McElroy, you have the prototypical pocket passer. A strong arm, good field vision, and he doesn't make a ton of mistakes with the football. Tim Tebow is just the opposite. The epitome of the spread-option quarterback who can out run or run over defenders and make enough plays in a passing game to keep the other team honest on defense.
