Champions League: Arsenal Waste Draw, ManU Surprised, Real Madrid Reach 2nd Round

Arsenal - CSKA Moscow 0-0

Arsenal hasn’t shown much yet in their new Emirates Stadium. Nonetheless, they were impressive tonight versus Russian formation CSKA Moscow. Arsenal dominated but failed to score their deserved goal. The Gunners managed to slice the Russian defense on several occasions but Cesc Fabregas, Thierry Henry, and Tomas Rosicky failed to score.

In the second half Arsenal again dominated. CSKA Moscow joined the party and failed to score as well. Arsenal were lucky not to have had a goal against them, something that would be completely undeserved looking at the general display of the match. Arsenal tied a game they should have won with big numbers.

Rafael van der VaartHamburger SV - FC Porto 1-3

Despite an equaliser from teamcaptain Rafael van der Vaart that kept HSV in the match, FC Porto won the match 1-3. Near half-time Lucho González scored and 15 minutes in the second half teammate Lisandro López scored the second goal.

Substitute Bruno Moraes gave HSV the final blow three minutes before the end of the match. HSV are out of all European Cups.

They don’t have enough points for the UEFA and there is nothing to gain in the remainder of the Champions League groupstage.

Benfica - Celtic 3-0

Benfica has perspectives again after their 3-0 victory over Scottish Celtic. The Portuguese have their hopes up for getting to round two of the prestigious Champions League after winning 3-0 over the scottish giants.

Gary Caldwell of Celtic had a bad night. He was the one who setup two goals for Benfica. The first one he scored after a cross of Nélson. The second goal he made a judgement error which was immediately punished by Nuno Gomes. Andrei Kariaka made the 3-0 and Benfica are now only 2 points behind Celtic.
