Troubled Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver – soon to be former Bengal – Chris Henry was arrested Wednesday in Covington, Kentucky on charges of providing booze to three underage girls.
This whole mishap started back in late April when one of these three teenagers – an 18-year-old girl – claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Henry at a hotel. While the authorities investigated, this girl changed her story and was charged with filing a false police report.Apparently during this investigation the authorities found out the 23-year-old Henry had supplied the 18-year old-and her two friends, ages 15 and 16, with booze over the course of the evening. According to the criminal affidavit Henry knew the girls were underage when he gave them the hooch in his car. What a smooth guy.
Henry is on a law-breaking tear that rivals anything accomplished by any athlete in recent memory :
• In December 2005 Henry was busted in Kentucky for possession of pot. He pled guilty and entered a drug rehab program.
• In January Henry got into a beef with a group of people outside of an Orlando, Florida night spot and decided this would be a good time to brandish a pistol. The local constabulary obviously had a different opinion of the situation. Henry was arrested on gun charges and has a trial date set for August 21. His pattern of behavior over the past seven months is not going to help him any when he has his day in court later this summer.
• Earlier this month Henry was charged with what is now the de rigueur offense for athletes: drunk driving and speeding.
With his latest act of stupidity Henry has at least stumbled across a relatively unique way to get arrested. If nothing else, he should be commended for being versatile enough to get arrested for four different violations of the criminal code in such a short period of time.

Sal,
Great article!
But there is one little thing you didn't quite get right. And it don't have nothing to do with this winner of a football player.
"Gornisht helfn" is not a noun to describe a person. It is a verbal phrase. "Gornisht helft" means "nothing helps." "Gornisht helftmn" means "nothing can help him/it," implying that the object of the phrase is a hopeless case, apparently a good description of this "sportsman". This was a phrase (along with a lot of other Yiddish) I learned at my father's knee. But never was it used as a noun. Always it was used as a verbal phrase.
Capisce?

Sal, evidently you hang with enough of the tribe to use a lot of terms just fine. So you're also the macher, boychick.
The sun is nearing the treetops in Jerusalem. I gotta get of this machine before I get in big trouble with the Big Guy Upstairs. See y'all in 25ΒΌ hours or so, G-d willing.
Have a good shabbes,

This was a ridiculous one-sided article. First, as a young Black male, he was more likely to be charged with any crime, regardless of the validity of the charge. Second, regarding the marijuana possession & DUI charges, we can't begin to count the white male college students & celebrities who are repeatedly guilty of these & more serious infractions. But because the they're white, they get off with hardly a scolding from law enforcement, the judicial system, or the media. Third, adoring fans & connessieurs of spirits (read: hoes & alcoholics)come in an amazing range of ages that can't necessarily be immediately discerned given their appearance and conduct.
