The Barry Bonds saga continues with the news that Bonds has undergone a third knee surgery so far this year. In light of the fact that Bonds, who has been doing his own thing all along, has decided to continue to train with his disgraced trainer Greg Anderson this is not a surprise.
Based on Bonds’ deteriorating condition, it is obvious that Anderson’s training methods are greatly responsible for the current state of Bonds’ knee.
Going back to the item that appeared in Muscle and Fitness magazine in the spring of 2003 it has been apparent that Bonds’ trainer Greg Anderson – famous for working with Bonds and for being involved in the Balco Labs scandal – knows nothing about how to train an athlete.
Whether or not Bonds has used performance-enhancing drugs, one thing is indisputable; his alleged weight training routine – as it appeared in Muscle and Fitness - is a sham. Way back in the spring of 2003, in response to the M&F article, I wrote and posted a critical review of the Bonds regimen, stating among other things that the training program was unsound, the supplement regimen was a waste of effort and that Bonds’ association with the sketchy Victor Conte of Balco Labs raised a bunch of red flags.
Furthermore, there was an article that appeared in Men’s Fitness magazine around the same time that detailed Bonds’ running program. This program consisted of extremely high intensity work conducted over a long period of time, almost constantly throughout the year. This is the kind of workout that will wear out and beat up a person, especially an older, professional athlete for whom rest and recovery are the most important factors to consider when designing a training program.
Who knew? Actually, I did.
So here we are all these years later, and Bonds’ knee has suddenly gone bad. So bad that it looks like the season may be in jeopardy. What is amazing to me is that no one has followed up on the story of what Anderson has done, and is currently doing with Bonds.

It's kind if hard to feel for Bobby in
view of him coming out in the pre-season
interviews blaming the public in general
for his "downfall" regarding steroids &
all that noise.

very interesting about his workout routine. I'd have a lot more sympathy too if he didn't always blame others for his problems and have such an offensive chip on his shoulders. he actually should be very pleased with the reaction to the steroid allegations gainst him: unlike the response to Mark McGwire, the general consensus about Bonds has been that he was already a greeat player before the steroids and so still deserved the Hall of FAme. McGwire is now talked about like he's Dave Kingman

Thats Bull.
Anderson is a great trainer, I personall train with him in Burlingame and I think that you don't have a clue what your talking about. You are probably some fat piece of nothing sitting there writing your little heart away about people you dont know.
I am a college baseball player and work hard everyday. I train and I recently got drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
If you want to talk trash about people you don't even know why dont you go to Anderson yourself and see what a hell of a guy he is.
He is getting in trouble for just doing his job, and he does a damn well job on it too!!

Hey "Private" thanks for your insightful comments and for being brave enough to use your real name! Your statement that Anderson is getting in trouble for doing his job is terrific! Doesn't everyone get indicted and then cop a plea when they are "just doing their job?" If they are distributing illegal performance enhancing drugs, they do.
In case you missed the news because you were working out with this admitted drug distributor, here's the link to the story.
Apparently when the news breaks that a low level draft pick with no grammatical skills has failed a drug test, we'll know who you are, "Private."
And I'm sure that among people who have admitted to being part of a conspiracy to launder money and distribute steroids go, Greg is a hell of a guy. For that matter, the jails are full of guys just like Greg.
