Barry Bonds Fails Drug Test

According to a report in Thursday’s New York Daily News, Barry Bonds tested positive for amphetamines during the 2006 season, and did not contest or appeal the results of the positive test. However, he did blame teammate Mark Sweeney for the positive test saying that he used a supplement that he found in Sweeney’s locker.

This is a response that you could expect coming from a drug cheat. As a matter of fact, this is just a variation on the excuses that Bonds proffered during his BALCO Labs grand jury testimony.

To refresh your memory, Bonds testified that he thought that his trainer Greg Anderson was giving him flax seed oil and arthritis balm, and Bonds didn’t know that what he was really taking was an illegal, anabolic steroid.

It’s worth mentioning that Bonds has never sought to pursue legal action against Anderson for illegally dosing him with a banned substance; Bonds was in effect poisoned but didn’t feel the need to do anything about it despite the fact that his career has been ruined as a result.

Anyway, Sweeney’s agent has said that his client never gave Bonds anything and that there was nothing that he could have given Bonds. Gene Orza, the chief operating officer of the players union tipped off Sweeney about Bonds’ allegations and told Sweeney to remove any substances from his locker and to not share them with anyone.

Sweeney responded that there was nothing to remove from his locker.

Bonds has always been a selfish, narcissistic lout, but now he’s a clubhouse snitch as well. Now he’s a rat who is willing to throw a teammate under the bus in order to try and explain away his own transgression. As a result of this action Bonds is a pariah of the highest order as he has committed the most egregious breech of baseball's sacred rules. The sanctity and secrets of the clubhouse reign supreme, and teammates are not supposed to tell tales, point fingers or name names.

Well done, Sal. It seems there truly is no lower for this guy to sink. Only Orenthal is less likable.

It isn't that he 'snitched' on teammates; he outright lies, refuses to accept responsibility (it's everyone else's fault, never his), & behaves like - good adjectives - a selfish, narcissistic lout, a rat, and a spoiled, overprivileged, over-rated legend in his own mind. He should be busted & serve time in jail or in community service where he belongs. As it is, he's overpaid, overrated, and over here.

He is such a Low-Life Scum Bag! No one wants him to play another Inning. He needs to retire and become a hermit somewhere in the rockies.

Blamin' it on a teammate. And here I thought steroids took away one's balls.

Good point. It's not about him the ball player anymore. It's about him as a person. He seems to be void of any decency. How bad could his life be for him to be so full of contempt? What could the media (who are far from angels) have done to make him such classless individual? At what point does Barry Bonds look in the mirror? The crying stunt he pulled on that ESPN show was a sad indication of where his mind is. I wonder if anyone took him aside and said, "Hey, Barry it's not cool, man. You're only hurting yourself." It never was about the fans or the media. Bonds obviously has other personal demons to deal with. Some of the best sports writing I ever read were based on the most hardened athletes and coaches of all-time: Cobb, Williams, Bobby Knight etc. The fact that their mercurial if not complex image enthralls us makes for engaging reading if they allow writers near them. In the case of Bonds, someone may not even care. A jerk is a jerk, right? What's more to say?

Bonds is pure SCUM and all his records should be addressed my the Commissioner NOW. Bonds did not break Bab Ruths' record in my opinion nor is he close to Hank Aarons recond either. Why is Baseball glorifying him at all, he's a CHEAT, pure and simple and now on top of being a druggie and a cheat he's a Snitch,A RAT and a Low-life to not stand up and take the heat when found out and then to go and blame a team-mate for his Juice is UNFORGIVABLE. BARRY BONDS GET OUT OF THE GAME FOREVER AND EVER!

Frank - The Commissioner, now there's someone who could stand a shot of 'roids to grow a set of "nads"!This is guy who owned the brewers at one time and never put a freakin' penny back into the team, but was one of those owners who cried poverty!I pose this question to all baseball fans:Will Hammerin' Hank be there if and when the 'roid man breaks his record?I'm saying Hank is "old school" and should boycott it.Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?

Put a fork in him, Sal. As we have seen with Big Mac, Bonds will never be in Cooperstown even with all his "enhanced" homeruns.
