Saturday Night Live is one of the high points my week. The opening monologue, Weekend Update, the political satire … it's all good. But now, Kenan Thompson, a regular on Saturday Night Live, is telling press that he would welcome Chris Brown back on to the show.
Whoa. Back up. Chris Brown, the alleged woman beater? That Chris Brown? It's well known that Chris Brown is alleged to have attacked girlfriend Rihanna ("SOS," "Umbrella"). There are all kinds of stories — Chris Brown was attacking her over a text message to another girl, that it was an attempted murder, and somehow Paris Hilton was involved. But look at this picture of Rihanna, right after the incident, before the bruising set in.
Did you look at it? Now, Kenan Thompson is welcoming the guy that did that to Rihanna back on the show. I'm repeating myself, because I can't believe someone would want an abuser on their show.
“It’s not up to me, but I’m sure we would if he had another hit single,” Thompson told Us Magazine. “We don’t care about scandal. We just care about what brings us ratings!”
WHAT? What a total jerk! Ratings for the show? Really? I mean, really? I'm sure a lot of fans, like me, will not ever watch Chris Brown perform on Saturday Night Live.
I don't care how sorry Chris Brown is. He belongs in jail. He beat a woman. That is unacceptable in today's society. And now, as a woman, I find it seriously offensive that Kenan Thompson would want him on Saturday Night Life for ratings. How insensitive is he? Hopefully, Saturday Night Live doesn't agree with Thomspon, because then I'd have to lose respect for them too.
Now, I've never been a fan of either Chris Brown or Rihanna. It's not like I didn't like either of them; I just haven't been a fan. I tried to stay out of the Chris Brown/Rihanna problem, because I would want others to stay out of it if it was me. But if Saturday Night Live does take Chris Brown back, and I'm not saying they will, I don't think I could ever watch that show again. Chris Brown belongs in jail, not saying, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
