Who would have thought that Selena Gomez, the Disney star who started her showbiz career via the Barney and Friends television show, would actually have an impressively consistent musical career with her outfit “Selena Gomez & The Scene,” constantly releasing infectious singles such as “Naturally,” “Round and Round,” and “Who Says”? I certainly did not for I thought television stars who wanted to have a bright musical career would find the transition process difficult.

Her latest single, entitled “Bang Bang Bang”, is the sophomore track for Selena Gomez & The Scene’s When The Sun Goes Down album. Produced by Toby Gad (who was responsible for the outfit’s “A Year Without Rain” single), “Bang Bang Bang” is a luminous track which shines brightly with its sexy synthesizers.

Lyrically, the listener may find that the track takes a shot at Gomez’s former boyfriend Nick Jonas with the lyrics “Bang bang bang/I’m breaking in/Stealing all my love back/Giving it to him/Bang bang bang” showing some ferocity. The track does give praise to Gomez’s current boyfriend Justin Bieber with the lines “My new boy knows the way I want it/He’s got more swagger than you” giving the impression that Gomez is indeed happy with the way her romantic life is currently going.

The track may remind the listener of “Bulletproof,” which was recorded by La Roux. The electropop elements of “Bang Bang Bang” possess lots of likenesses to that of “Bulletproof” – put the tracks together and they will seamlessly mesh with each other. I am a fan of Selena Gomez & The Scene and this promo single only shows that they can still do it. “Bang Bang Bang” may have Bieber references but it still remains an impressive electropop track that listeners will surely like.
