Green Day: Sheet Music Anthology will be a treat for any piano or keyboard-playing Green Day fan.

Sheet Music Review: Green Day: Sheet Music Anthology by Alfred Music Publishing

Green Day have established themselves as one of the most popular and influential groups in the punk/alternative field today. In 2005, they won the Grammy for Record of the Year for “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” In 2009 they won another for Best Rock Album for 21st Century Breakdown. They currently have an American Idiot Broadway tour that has been going since 2010 with over 400 performances and counting.

Luckily for piano and keyboard music fans, their music also happens to be very well suited to translation to sheet music for keyboard instruments.

Green Day: Sheet Music Anthology is simplified for easier piano, but the music preserves the sound of the 19 included songs very well. Carol Matz has done an excellent job with the arrangements, so that they are easy enough for players of limited experience without sounding like beginner or amateur pieces. The sheet music is very clear and the notes are large and easy to read, printed on high-quality 100% recycled paper.

More skilled players will still enjoy playing the songs, too, as they are not so simple as to be boring. In fact, the difficulty level is just right to have fun playing for yourself or for your friends, alone or as accompaniment for other musicians or singers. Lyrics and guitar chords are included.

The 19 songs represent some of Green Day’s best known songs, including six from American Idiot, five from 21st Century Breakdown, three from Dookie, two from Warning and one each from Nimrod, and Insomniac. Included are hits like “21 Guns,” “American Idiots,” “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and “When I Come Around.”

This collection will be a treat for every piano or keyboard-playing Green Day fan from the advanced beginner(able to handle chords on both the bass and treble clefs) to the proficient player.
