Sean Kingston — the stage name for Kisean Anderson — is a successful Jamaican-American hip-hop singer known for combining reggae, rap, and R&B in his songs. Kingston grew up in Miami, Florida and in Jamaica. His stage name refers to the capital of Jamaica, Kingston.
Kingston was originally discovered on the social networking site My Space. His break-out hit, “Beautiful Girls” was released in May 2007, when Kingston himself was only 17 years old, and reached number one in the United States and the U.K. His second album featured collaborations with numerous artists and included the hit “Fire Burning.” On tour, Kingston has opened up for superstars such as Gwen Stefani and Beyonce. Kingston is known for his refusal to use profanity in his lyrics, which is somewhat unusual in hip-hop.
On May 29, 2011, Kingston was injured in a jet ski crash near Miami Beach, Florida. His jet ski, which also carried a female passenger, hit a bridge. Both Kingston and his passenger were hospitalized following the accident.
Shortly after Kingston’s accident, rumors began circulating that he had died although no such announcement had been made. Celebrities, such as Justin Bieber, took to the Twitter to make statements in support of Kingston.Powered by Sidelines
