We should all give soccer far more of our love.

Screenshots: EA’s FIFA 11

The World Cup may have just ended, but that doesn’t mean that we have to be done with soccer.  I envision a United States where we embrace the world’s most popular sport, where we hold it close to our bosom 12 months a year instead of two weeks once every four years.  Little kids all over the nation play soccer, it’s an incredibly popular youth sport.  Why is it that it has to go away as we age?  It is one of the most exciting, most exhilarating, turn on a dime sports on this planet, and we should all find ways to bring it into our lives on a daily basis.

There is really only one way that will ever be possible, there is really only one company that can make my soccer dreams come true.  And, I honestly believe that they’re trying to do just that.  Who?  It’s good old EA, with their annual FIFA release, the latest version of which is scheduled to arrive at the end of September.  Last year those folks over at EA released an utterly fantastic iteration of the game and we greatly look forward to seeing what they give us this year.  Until we see the retail copy though we’re just going to have stare at these screenshots.
