When You Leave The Internet, Do You Die?

Those who get into porn with glee would never know the name of Angela Devi. With so many entering and leaving the industry, one girl from the next is hard to personally care about. For many of her fans, there has been an unusual mix of mystery and heartbreak at the swirling rumors that she has passed away. However because of the anonymity of the Internet, does anyone really care if a person suddenly leaves it?

A search on the Freeones board (where she was known to post) reveals at least a few threads on her and a couple or more threads on her death. Moderators who have connections to her family and have made contact with the respective companies she has worked for have confirmed her passing. Official word has been restricted, apparently until the family feels the need to release the information.

There’s all kind of speculation as to what could be the reason for her death, or even if her death was merely a rumor from her foes in the industry. Porn is entertainment, and because it does make more money than even the mainstream movie industry, it’s bound to mess with the heads of a few of its performers. That being said, Angela’s disappearance from the Internet has caused people to believe she’s gone from the world for good. But if she was only a mere user of the information superhighway, would you care just as much?

I’ve had friends come and go on the Internet, and most of the time it’s been explained that they use it for boredom or for someone to talk to. It’s like automated confession to speak into the keyboard, enter your whole life with a few strokes, and then at the end click on the X button to make it all disappear. Sometimes in these stories, you begin to care. But that seems to be the point at which they won’t cross the line, the fear ironically in that whole deal is also death.

I think the Internet has become the new planet earth. Living and breathing creatures don’t exist in flesh and blood, but on computers with IP addresses. To disappear, all one has to do is remove themselves from the computer and they’ll never know you are gone in the first place. Whether you are still alive outside the net or dead, the status will never be known to those with whom you’ve talked.

The possibility that there could be a connection made between computers is sorta like a blind date. The questions will always be there: Is she ugly? Am I ugly to her? Is he a killer? Is she a killer? Is she a man? I would think that if you want to know someone, you would take the risk of possibly being wrong and learn from it. It’s either that or you simply bring a friend along to be sure.

All I know is that if people really think of me as nothing more than an IP, then perhaps it’s not worth the cost of the bandwidth to try and make friends on the net.

Soemtimes you nearly die, and then you leave the Internet.

    'nuff said.

For the record, Angela Devi the erotica model and online personality is 'dead', never to do erotic photography ever again.

However, the person who played Angela Devi in real life (her initials are S.D.) is still very much alive.

Sometimes we are forced to make tradeoffs and choices for the ones we love. "Shana" did just that, and is much happier and more fulfilled with her new ('real') life. Let's give her the respect and privacy she has earned, and allow her to move on to bigger and better things.

Shanali Dhingra to be exact, and there are no records of her death, so I sure hope that she is still alive and enjoying her life. I believe she was going to get married, so best wishes for her and her new lifestyle.

this whole thing was handled very badly. if she is still alive she should have given her fans the courtesy to know that she was retiring instead of wondering if she's alive or dead. if she did pass then some credible source somewhere should have announced it officially instead of keeping people guessing.

Well, i know for a fact that family can lead to a lot of pressures for an Indian girl, especialy one doing what Angela did. Maybe it was just out of her hands and she had to give up the work she was doing and suddenly settle down. Besides, she was also going to College (I think) and she had bigger plans in mind. If she realy was dead I'd expect some kind of perminant notice or a memorial on her official site, for her fans. It's silly of her just to disappear. She was different from the rest, she tried to become your friend through her videos and even created a bond with many of her viewers. Even if it was just an act the whole time to rake in the cash, it was a character many people fell in love with and it's silly that they wouldnt keep an official document up on her site (even if they decide to delete everything else) to make sure fans would get the word of the sad news. Wherever she is right now, I hope Shanali Dhingra alright and in a good place.

Angela S. Dhingra (aka "Angela Devi"), 30 years of age, hanged herself at the 7498 E. Christmas Cholla Dr. property that she had occupied since January of this year. Her body was discovered by the Scottsdale Police at approximately 10:15 A.M. The last known time anyone spoke with her was the night before.

The presence of rigor mortis in the body indicates that she likely committed suicide between four and twelve hours prior to its discovery. This places the actual suicide some time between 10:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. or thereabouts. The fact that the heater was on in the home (in Arizona in the spring) seems strongly indicative that the suicide occurred in the late evening or very early morning hours.

Angela left a very brief suicide note to her parents and family in which she apologized for the embarrassment she had caused her family the previous week (a note which apparently perplexed her brother when the police questioned him about it).

She hanged herself in the living room, which is directly adjacent to the stairwell of the two story house. She used a belt from a robe, tied tightly around her neck. The belt was attached to two hooks mounted in the ceiling, one of which was completely pulled out of the ceiling in the process. There was a footstool lying on its side near her body, which she likely pushed over in her suicide.

The police discovered her lifeless body lying on its side in a fetal position in the corner of the living room. There was a small, likely post mortem wound to her thigh, which was most likely caused by hitting the carpeted landing for the stairs as she fell. Lividity was consistent with the position of the body when the police discovered it. Petichial hemorrhaging of the eyes also indicates asphyxiation as the most likely cause of death.

Further investigation of the home revealed that she had also taken a large quantity of Xanax (possibly as many as 115 individual 0.5mg tablets).

I would put even money that she's dead. Her personal life was out of control. Looking at her record on publicdata.com, she'd been arrested for DUI, all sorts of traffic violations, failure to appear in court, was ordered to go to counseling, etc. etc. etc.

A person this irresponsible and reckless, combined with her own personal realization that she posed nude for a living, in less-than-artistic settings, probably contributed to a downward spiral of self-loathing and eventual suicide.

Does anyone have the police report? It was originally filed on lukeisback.com

The lukeisback.com also talks about Devi talking to Dr.Seus, and alot of other fake characters. That is a fake police report, and Scottsdale P.D. have denied ever releasing or allowing the personal information of anyone. They are facing a heavy lawsuit if it were so easy to pay on the internet or in person for a death report of a total stranger. They have "denied" ever making a report from any of their officers, and have denied knowing anything about Angela Devi and a death occurring. I have more questions for Woody of Foxes.Com, but of course he will never answer or respond to the so-called death report he left on Angela website. Angela is far from dead.

Even after all of the new info, i still cant imagine her to be dead, especialy this way. She was a 31 year old (was she, really? I dont remember what it said on her site, if anything, but she seemed younger...) and she had large breasts. Think, how in the world did she keep everything from her family for so long? I personaly dont think that is possible. She made many videos almost regularly in her own home, she had to get implants more than once. I seriously think that some eyebrows would have been raised in that household... she was on the internet for so long that someone that knew the family would have noticed much sooner and informed her parents. couple this with her being 30... if so, then she was a grown women who could make her own decisions. She was also going to a college to get the credentials start a career (wasnt that the reason for the site in the first place?). All im saying is that if she lived with anyone, im pretty sure they would have known long before april/march 06 about what she was doing. Was she even living with her parents in the first place? Angela did hint at something like that, but it could have been just for the effect of the videos (something like, "look, im doing all this but my parents could be here any time now...!"). well, this is just what i think, but Im sure so far that real proof hasnt been revealed to prove that she has passed away... yet so much has come up to strengthen skepticism (a fake police report? jeez! just what is going on!? and for someone who loved to see angela's great smile... that report was extremly chilling. it also clashes with another report that states that she took Xanax but did not mention anything to do with hanging. why would someone commit suicide in 2 different ways at the same time?).

I'm beyond sure Angela's parents knew of her carrer. The only problem I go back and forth on is Woody's(foxes.com and Angela's photographer, and manager,I guess and friend) Woody said that there is "NO-WAY-Possible" for Angela to be photographed again. I felt that was a sincere statement, because if she wasn't dead someone might see her, or investigate his statement. That is the only thing that sticks out in my mind, that somewhat rings as true, maybe she is deceased. Some people think rapper Topac is alive and leaving a quiet life and Elvis! Don't know maybe Angela is alive maybe not.

A police report is a public record, and is available to anyone who asks for it. The police report made available on lukeisback.com may not be authentic (though if it's a hoax, someone went though a lot of effort to make it look real), but it's untrue that the Scottsdale PD would never relase it or would be facing a lawsuit if they did. Anyone with $5 could have requested the report, scanned it into a PDF, and published it online.

I don't see anything in the police report to make it seem like a fake. Leaping on the name "Dr. Seuss" and pronouncing the whole thing a fake because of it doesn't fly. Seuss is a real name (the author Dr. Seuss's full name was Theodore Seuss Geisel), and as a joke name, it wouldn't fit the tone of the rest of the report, which looks authentic down to the artifacts from the scanner and a rubber stamped warning from the Scottsdale PD on every page that the information in the report is only to be used for purposes for which it was requested (the stamp itself is at a different location and angle on every page, and on some pages you see the doubling effect characteristic of a hand-held rubber stamp).

As for the Xanax, plenty of people committing suicide will OD on some drug as a fallback and then use some physical means to do actually terminate their life (most famously, Kurt Cobain injected himself with a massive heroin OD and then put a shotgun in his mouth).

This has gone beyond rumor and speculation. This is either a very careful, elaborate hoax, or Angela Devi is actually dead of suicide. I don't see anything to "strengthen the skepticism"; I see a lot of rumor and what-if and I heard from a friend of a friend that she's alive, and what appears to be a cold, hard piece of irrefutable evidence she's dead. I was a fan too and I'm not at all happy about this, but clinging to forlorn hope grounded on thin air isn't going to bring her back. She was, apparently, a very troubled young woman whose life tragically ended much too soon, and it's a disservice to her memory to pretend it never happened.

Here's the funny thing. I looked up her grave on findagrave.com under her real name and her stage name. Nothing was found. I looked up her death certificat online using different sites and Ancestry.com, nothing came up. I even looked through Arizona obituares and did some detective work on my own. Nothing turned up about an Angela Devi, Angela Dhingra or Shanali Dhingra. Nothing, or as Genesis would say "No reply at all"

I'm not attacking anyone or anything, but I have my reasonable doubts that she is dead.

Well...for me it´s really disgusting to think that anyone has done the filthy job of forging a police report to support a lie. I believe she is dead...if her photographer wrote that letter on her website (that is a fact) in my opinion we shouldn´t have more doubts. To think over this question is a waste of time: if she´s dead we can do nothing but remember her...but if she´s alive she doesn´t deserve us to be speculating about her because has demonstrated that doesn´t care about us, so...why should we do it about her?....

If a woman named Angela Dhingra didn't die in Arizona on April 1, 2006, that doesn't necessarily prove Angela is still alive, but it would definitely demolish the police report (leaving me, at least, wondering why someone would go through all that bother). It would also send most of the amateur investigators on the Internet back to square one on this case, because so far as I'm aware, Dhingra is the only plausible sounding "real" last name that exists for her. If that's the case, alive or dead, she did a better job of hiding her identity than most.

In response to Dr.Jerin, people are going to ask this question until the issue is settled because people, as a rule, like to solve mysteries. As for her not caring, it's really impossible to judge how much she cared about her fans because nobody really knew her. She might have genuinely appreciated the attention, she might have been completely indifferent to everything except their money, she might have hated them with every fiber of her being (all three happen to women in the porn business, even the softcore end). This isn't to knock her memory, just to point out nobody knew her, even by the cheap facimile that passes for "knowing" someone on the Internet. If she didn't really care about her fans, or at least not enough to not drop off the face of the Internet with no explanation, well, honestly, so what? She was a businesswoman providing a service. She was very attractive and the personality she displayed online was pleasant, but it was still a business transaction. If she's chosen to get out of that line of work and set it up so nobody looks for her, well, she's entitled to a private life, and this might have been the only way she felt she could have achieved it for good.

    okay, heres the thing...
i recently saw the topic and read the report, the whole scotsdalle report from lukeisback.com
i dunno if u have read the whole report, but i found some contradictory content....
(quoting from the report - Bibianas narrative)
"on 3/31/06 at approximately 0845 hours, Bibiana tried to call angela, like she does at that time everyday. She called both Angela's cell phone and home phone. Angela did not answer either phone and Bibiana left messages on both phones. She then called Euan to see if angela was with him. When Euan told Bibiana angela was not with him and he was told angela was at work....."

(quoting from the report - Euans narrative)
"On 3/31/06 at an unknown time in the morning, Euan went to work. he tried to call Angela a couple of times but was unable to reach her. He thought she may be with Bibiana.
On 3/31/06 at approximately 0915 hours, Euan called Bibiana to see if angela was with her. She was not and Bibiana thought Angela was with Euan....."

So, as u all can see, according to Bibiana, Euan thought Angela was at work, whereas Euan said he thought Angela was with Bibiana. Secondly, who called who? Bibiana says she called Euan at 0845, whereas Euan says he called Bibiana at 0915.
I have no idea what to think. Is this report fake? highly unlikely i think. Were the contradictory allibis followed up by the authorities? we may never know.

    Your comments???

so i'm late with this contribution, but i'm only now starting my search for the truth (and still trying to download the 'police report').

a wikipedia entry for Hyapatia Lee states that she faked her death once but to boost sales of her merchandise. Angela might have done the same thing but then why take the site down if that was the mission?

perhaps there was a serious and life threatening reason if this really is a hoax (like a stalker or something).

Ummm hello, fake police reports are the easy to make or to "BUY"online. I doubt if Ms. Devi is deceased that she would be buried anywhere. Also you are not going to find her grave or knowledge of a grave; because I believe she would be creamated. Again Woody of foxes.com has not talked has said nothing, and I hold him higher then someone or site claiming to have the police report or the 911 call of Angela Devi. I mourn more for Steve Irwin aka: "Crocodile Hunter" who was killed today by a "stingray" and who I truly enjoyed watching, and learned alot from. Steve Irwin "Rest In Peace" and "Thank You For Everything You Have Taught Us All" Will Miss Your Voice"

Deathalloy74: The contradiction between Euan and Bibiana's stories could easily just be one of them misremembering who called whom. The time difference might not be a contradiction at all; Euan allegedly called Angela at 08:45, but it makes no mention of when he allegedly spoke with Bibiana. If the times were hours apart, it would be suspicious, but 30 minutes is a narrow window. As for the confusion between them as to Angela's wherabouts, that happens all the time with people with no malicious intent, and it's likely that both would assume Angela was with the other if she wasn't with them and not answering her home phone.

RIP Steve Irwin: It's easy to make a fake police report (I could do it in Pages in a few hours; the hardest part would be inventing details for them), but if the one available on the Internet is a hoax, the hoaxer paid a lot of attention to detail. There are artifacts like a paper document got run through a fax machine or a scanner. Phone numbers for Bibiana and Euan were entered in the proper spots on the form, and then redacted (of course anything could have been written under there, but the point is the alleged hoaxer neither left them blank nor put in a fake phone number, he actually followed police procedure when releasing a police report to the public). Every page has been rubber stamped, and not cleanly, as if done by Photoshop, but sloppy, with a double image from the stamp hitting twice, as often happens when you rubber stamp a document hastily. The tone of the writing is professional. The map looks like the kind of map that would be hand drawn by a cop on the scene. Et cetera. I'm certainly not saying it's confirmed hand's-down that the police report is fake, but it's at the very least better than a run of the mill hoax.
