Hurricanes continue to spark news and opinion pieces all over the Web, and prompt worry over the end of days.

Hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico continue to spark news and opinion pieces all over the Web, but by far the strangest theme is the "end times" scenario. Based on prophecies in the Bible (and the Koran, and the "third secret of Fatima"—and "scientific" prophesies from ecologists), bloggers all over the world are discussing the signs that we are "entering the end of days."…

I attended an uncle's funeral last week and was amused (and angered) by the preacher who went into speaking about the end of days coming soon (apparant by so many recent natural disasters). Members of my family sitting in the front row knodded their heads in agreement and excitement... that humanity will no longer exist (and they look forward to it...?)

Religion disgusts me. The only way this Earth will rendered uninhabitable in our lifetime is if we make it that way ourselves or if an undocumented meteor collides with Earth.

I'm looking forward to the new generation of space telescopes being launched over the next decade. These telescopes are designed to seek out other earth-like planets and determine what elements make up the atmosphere of these distance planets. I hope they find one like our so that the ancient ignorance called religion will be laid to rest and humanity can continue evolving in peace.

this is just the birth pangs of the end of this "reality"hopefully 1st the rapturethen there will be31/2 yrs of "peace"followed by 3 1/2 yrs of extreme labor pangs of great horrorand then finally God him self the slain lamb will show him self to all the world the badges of honor that save our souls by dying for our sins as free gift to thoes except itand a thousand year kingdom of true peace ,but the world is not going to end he comes before all flesh is devoured and after the thousand years he creates a new heaven and a new earth. man i cant wait to get there its got be better than this earth wher man cant muck things up with our sin it says he will teach us to sin no more , something i look forward to I hope you do too?

Earth is the only heaven a non beliver will know, earth is the only hell a christian will know.

Hats off to Synergy, Sence, kittygogo and Silus Kain for constructive and insightful comments, but Zak you should really try to cut down on the psychedelic drugs. People who keep imagining and preaching that the end of the world is near have only a fear of the unknown and events that are out of their control. Those who are actually doing things to prevent such a catastrophy are the only people who deserve to live on our fragile little planet. I visited this site because I am concerned for the well-being of my children and the entire human race. So many people with religion prefer to live in their microcosmic worlds, instead of taking action to preserve our planet for all people, regardless of their beliefs.

who knows when th end will come, but look around you and see what kind of society we are. Kids are dying of hunger around the world, but yet we cannot live without our I-PODS,and our fancy cellular phones.

Bottom Line folks...We are all just speculating. None of us truly know what is going to happen. Sure the Sun will burn out in some billion years from now, but will Jesus return before then? Will Aliens invade first? Is Buhda coming back before then and if so what the hell does that mean? WE DO NOT KNOW. So how do we exist in the meantime? Paranoid? Excited? How about just plain old peacefully. How about with love. Wow, John Lennon had it right the whole time. "Imagine"

Phillip mentioned: 3. I find it hard to believe that God singled out poor people and poor neighborhoods, leaving wealthier suburbs alone, especially in light of the his emphasis on the poor when He was on earth.

    Amy's thought to ponder Sir . . .
What would cause our hearts to soften, and take heed? The poor being inflicted with tragedy? Or the wealthy folks . . . which our flesh can sin & be jealous - hard hearts and all. ? ?

Don't just look at hurricanes and ask is this the end time. Read 2 Timothy 3 and Timothy 4. in your Bibles. That's second Timothy 3 and 4. It gives a scenerio of the end time. it speaks of the perilous times to come, Guess what? It's all here now. Read the book of Joel in the Bible if you really want to feel scared.

Vicki, since you're quoting from the Bible and are positing a future view, let me ask you a question: If Peter, in Acts, stood up and said "THIS is THAT which was spoken of by the Prophet Joel," how can force the events of Joel 2000+ years into the future?

If Jesus said He would return, with His Kingdom, in THAT generation, why are we trying to force its arrival 1900+ years into the future? The language of imminency is consistent throughout the inspired Word of God.

Please - let's allow that those pre-millineal dispensationalist on TV are thinking straight. These things already happened, and Jesus came back when He said He would, or He failed!

Far more interesting: the title of the OTHER book. Alien Spaceman Jesus, the World Trade Center Attack and More.

    The site is well-named. "angelfire.com/crazy/spaceman"

Diamonds can be heated and enhanced or irridated. The rest of the ore is then used for industrial purposes diamond engagement ring. So then why would a diamond merchant discount the price on a genuinely good quality diamond that is a billion years old. Regardless of the shape, you really need to look at the cut and if there is any damage to the diamond. Also watch out for cosmetic enhancements or synthetic diamonds. engagement jewelry http://1engagement-rings.com/

how can you people be so blind ? but it is said that some people will not be able to see the truth. GOD seeks us out and Jesus saves us. if Jesus has not found you , or is not seeking you, i feel sorry for you and i only wish that you come to know the truth , for the truth shall set you free from worry. i don't know when Jesus will return, but he does tell us to watch for signs and they are definitely showing up more and more. you can't deny that. there is more earthquakes, tornadoes, floods,ect..., but i have not got to worry. i just pray that all come to know the Lord's saving grace
