Vote For BlogCritics!

BlogCritics was recently nominated as one of the best "group blogs" on the planet! We are but one of 14 blogs deemed worthy enough to have a shot at "winning the cyber-gold."

This is a powerful endorsement of BlogCritics. We have come a long way over the months and years. Roughly 700 bloggers call BlogCritics.org their "home-away-from-home" in cyberspace.

Sadly, however, despite these vast numbers, we are not pulling our weight in the polling.

As of this writing, 9646 total votes have been tallied in our category. And a meager 145 or so have gone for the home team.

In fact, we are in last place. 14th of 14. A mere 1.5% of the total votes cast.

This is nothing short of a humiliation.

Eric works his ass off to make this site work. He delegates some responsibilities, yet still works 60+ hours/week making this site the best it can be.

And his effort has paid off. Nearly 15,000 unique visitors read BlogCritics daily, and that number is rising.

Yet, despite all his efforts, and all the powerful writing of hundreds of fellow BlogCritics, we are still in dead last in the voting.

How could this be? I've voted at least 4 times (you can vote once per day). If every BlogCritic had done so, we'd be in first place.

But they haven't done so. And why not?

WHY THE HELL NOT?

Voting is easy, free, and fun. There are numerous categories to choose from. There's even a link to the voting site on the BC home page.

Hey! As I write this, we've already moved up a bit, percentage-wise. LET'S KEEP IT UP!

If BlogCritics wins in this category, we all benefit. We garner prestige, as well as additional readers.

This is truly a win-win situation.

Now, I realize I'm a bit of a polarizing figure on here. I take strong positions that are not always popular. And there are some of my fellow BlogCritics who simply do not like me.

But my request is not politically partisan. It is not selfish. It is purely altruistic.

Love me, hate me, or whatever, please vote for BlogCritics here.

Vote early, vote often. Tell your friends. Post it on your own blogs. Whatever.

Victory is ours, if we merely try. And defeat is certain, if we do not...

(i posted this in eric's thread as well, but it never hurts to post again...)

i've been voting for blogcritics every day. and have been encouraging people on my site to do so as well.

and while you're there voting for blogcritics, why not help a fellow critic out and cast a vote for my site, ingrown brain stem in the "best humor blog" category? at least blogcritics is in whole numbers at 1.6%; i'm pulling up the rear at a pathetic 0.5% of the vote.

please, take pity on me and make my mother proud. vote copygodd 2004!

    thanks rj.

good news: blogcritics is up to 1.8% now, and has moved into 14th place ahead of "silent running."

bad news: i'm still in last place with an unchanged 0.5% total.

yes, i am glad to see some movement: the vote is in the spotlight box on the front page and the sidebar everywhere else. I also sent an email to every Blogcritics member. The fact that we have moved up only marginally after all of that leaves me with a very thin sense of hope. If 15K unique daily readers voted each day between now and the 12th we would overwhelm the voting, but that doesn't seem to be a priority. I am not sure what our (members and readers) reluctance to be mobilized actually means, but I will choose to see it as a commentary on this particular process because otherwise I might get pissed and that would be pointless.
