Ten Million and Counting: Blogcritics.org Just Keeps on Coming

Part of: Online Media Cultist

I’m not even sure how I stumbled across Blogcritics.org, but the occurrence changed my life in some small but real and meaningful way.

I’d feel a little silly writing that if I was the only one, but I know the same is true for many others and the occasion of the ten millionth visit to this little corner of the web and blog universe is as fine a time as any to take a step back and go Big Picture for a moment.

If I may be so bold, Blogcritics.org is the perfect nexus of communication and technology and, well, stuff.

What kind of stuff? Any kind of stuff. You name it, you can find it here: from Michael Jackson gossip to the meaning of the universe, from the top ska-fusion jazz bands of all time to up-to-the-second news and analysis from hotspots across the globe. News and reviews and thoughts and ideas that you won't find anywhere else every single hour, every single day.

And if you can’t find it here, all the better: write a post, publish it (as easy and free and gratifying a thing that one can do with a keyboard and a thought) and sure enough, others will be undoubtedly check in with their thoughts and comments and complaints and hearty and uproarious approval as well.

It’s a place for conversations, many of which take place in nearly real time.

It’s a community outpost on the technological frontier.

Come to Blogcritics. Stake your claim. Find a corner and set up shop.

There're more and more folks all the time that are doing just the same.

Ten million and counting.

I don't recall what prompted me to first come here, either.

But I have benefitted from the community of ideas, and I have also gotten some FREE STUFF as review items.

So, it's been a great experience. And it will only improve with time...

I came across BlogCritics via a link on Madville. Someone had shown me a political article based from the site. Instead of reading the article, I signed up for BlogCritics instead.

I can already tell the difference in visitors to my blog and I've been here less than a month.

As I searched for music and film reviews, I kept on stumbling across this pesky site known as Blogcritics. Soon, I posted my own review of the film Collateral, in the comments section of Vic's review, on August 7 of last year. He encouraged me to post it as a blog entry. That caused me to sign up at Blogger.com and soon after, Blogcritics.

How did you discover Blogcritics? Anyone else?

I think I was just scanning around various blogs and kind of stumbled across it. Right away I knew I had found someplace special. After a day I was hooked.

Maybe it's like Othello... a minute to learn, a lifetime to master.

I found this place when I was playing www.blogshares.com>Blogshares and noticed it at the top of the music review category, where my blog was languishing in the low 20's or so.

I procrastinated for a month before I emailed Eric. Glad I finally did, though. The experience has been great, and I've encountered a lot of fine people via BC directly and indirectly.

It would be interesting to learn how various people, from casual readers to regulars, discovered Blogcritics.

As we talk about in our little virtual editor's circle: if we keep putting out a consistent product, people will find us. And that's completely thanks to writers like you, uao.
