Hahahahahaha, the fact that people would give a shit about such a thing as myspace just proves exactly how low our society has become. Myspace is overrun by the most mindless shit known to man, with people trying to be trendy and cool, fit in with the "scene". Very few people actually use it only for friends. It's true that it's good for music, but that fact is only because the fact that almost every idiot can use myspace, and the fact that music myspace profiles are easily accessed by those who "befriend" them. I could care less about myspace, I just hope that some of you can read my words and understand that you're fighting a useless battle, things are bound to either die in one way or another. I'm just grateful that myspace will die.

myspace is alright as a tool to get music out there...yeah i know there's alot of bad music out there, but its one of the better and more easy to use and wide reaching sites for bands to post music...of course, the bands who just randomly spam other users are douches, but if its just there for your friends to hear your music, it's ok.....but i would never get a personal page, those things always seemed like they're often such a desperate cry for attention....if they came out with a better music posting page where actual people visit and it's not just a musician's version of a sausage fest, then i'd ditch myspace in a second...

    the evil has already begun.
i am a nightclub promoter and my promotion content has begun dissapearing bit by bit over the last week. pictures, posts, bulletins, comments, etc.

he's is going to ruin a brilliant network and marketing tool all in the name of Networks and Marketing.

    Asshat.

You're a nightclub promoter and you dare to call anyone else evil? :)

Just kidding, Bianca. You sound hot, especially with a name like Bianca.

What city do you promote in? Bring in more trance and deep house DJs -- it's the future and you'll get a hipper clientele. Not yet another hip hop night unless you want a bunch of lame kids with fake IDs and gangstas. Get one really good, respected resident dance DJ with a following and keep him/her around and playing gigs for you.

I hate people who use and capitalize the phrases "Networking" and "Marketing." I've done some club promoting in my college days, and the secret is to print up a bunch of really slick, annoying flyers to waste paper on. These days, get a website with a really popular message board or get a lot of people signed up for your e-mail list with promises of free or reduced guestlist privileges so they'll show up.

Forget Ladies' Night (unless it's one of your really slow nights at a club, but what promoter wants that?) or dress-up/schoolgirl/thong/pornstar host/pimp-ho cheesiness. No one comes out anymore in any big, sophisticated city for that nonsense. At least no one with money.

One annoying thing I've noticed is text message spam on my cell phone from club promoters. It makes me homicidal.

What's your website, Bianca? I'll check it out, especially if there are hot pics of you on it.

    That is all.

Myspace and its college bastard cousin, Facebook, both scare me.

Kids have too much time on their hands and apparently aren't scared of Internet pals anymore.

    That is all.

Honestly, why would Rupert Murdoch or anyone else at Fox care about reading about how your day went last week? They don't want to hear about what school you go to, nor do they want to hear about who you would like to meet.

Okay, let's suppose that Fox is, for some strange reason, interested in your habits. So? What does that matter at all? Fox isn't going to come get you in the night for thinking bad thoughts. We aren't living in the book 1984, sorry. Some people might say something like, "They will get info about what I say and make targeted ads about it!"
Again... so what? Wouldn't you rather have an ad for something you are mildly interested in than an ad for Viagra?

    Chill out.

Yeh Scotty, I checked out that www.in2ism.com site and I like it already. The in2people section is not as advanced as myspace, but I don’t even use mostof the features on myspace anyway! What I like about the in2ism is that their like the grown-up version of Myspace, the in2ism.com site has alot of real cool artices for both men & women.
I think their gonna get big if they continue like this.

That in2ism site seems to be stuck in Dallas for now though...but it seems like it has the formula to spread

yea wow, reading through these things makes me laugh at how a bunch of idiots go on and on about myspace for months.

you know what, everyones entitled to their own opinion. either you like myspace or you dont, simple as that. just because you dont like it doesnt mean you need to start stuff with the people who do like it. basically what youre doing there is recreating the SAME EXACT DRAMA THAT HAPPENS ON MYSPACE!!

yea i have a myspace, i dont entirely love it, i dont entirely hate it. but thats my opinion and youre just going to have to deal with it.

This whole thing is overblown from both teams aspects. The people who make the criticism about MySpace first have no reason to care about MySpace, and are, therefore, making asses of themselves for being such blowhards on this subject at all...it's as if you hate pizza and you spend all your time searching sites who love pizza and bashing it.

The people who hate Tom for selling out are idealists who really wish there was no such thing as a person who wants money for his idea. Good for Tom. I would be glad if Tom took the money and ran, but he didn't; he still updates everything on the site the way he always did.

The people who hate Fox or whatever purchase they made have no grasp on the American way (as if you can't see the American way by stepping outside and checking out the new Wal*Mart or Starfucks or whatever else is destroying your memories of your surroundings). That's all this is about: memories. People want their memories to be their present and because MySpace cannot exist as a site alone (because money controls the bandwidth, the servers, etc), they have a fit about this news.

I love MySpace. I will continue going there because it's not costing me anything, it just happens to be a place where I can get quicker updates on the life outside the damn computer box with my friends and family, and it is a good idea. I've never tried Friendster, but for whoever made the weak observation that MySpace is like Friendster, it looks like Friendster stole the name right off a sound-alike MP# search engine that remains a demigod in the industry, so who steals from who?

myspace has always been fucked up, even before snoop ruppy-rup bought it. no worries though. it's not like viacom bought it, or some other company that tries to mask their ideology. we KNOW rupert is conservative. sumner redstone is a different character altogether. i'd rather have to deal with an up front doosh bag rather than a snake in the grass anyday.

Myspace isn't all that great in terms of functioning, customer service, being a decent company, design, or development.

Myspace is great at sitting there now that everybody has found it. Myspace was/is great at getting new users.

There are a ton of flaws with Myspace, including (but not even close to limited to) Log in/out problems, features such as changing your email address not working, often clicking a link will give you an error but the second time you click it everything works, there are a ton of poorly laid out pages, searching doesn't work most of the time, and others that are similar.

Honestly, noting the website in an earlier post, I visited buzznex.com and it is MUCH more appealing just looking at the first page. I will be joining buzznex in hopes that it gets more popular.

Personally, I would rather someone did something about the layout and backend of Myspace, but it won't happen.

hmm.. i dont see what the big deal is with the change of ownership... if u really like myspace why does it matter if FOX owns it or some dude named TOM? well whatever stay with ure strange government conspiracys and parinoia, ill just enjoy what my government gives me, and be happy with it. lol plus why does it matter if u dont like myspace, if its gonna suck so bad then just do somthing else (maybe even go outside and meet your friends face to face)

All i can say is if Fox Media makes it a paid site or has a premium service, they will lose millions of people and millions of dollars.
MySpace is what it is b/c of what it is... its free, its easy to use, and did i say its free.
No one wants to pay to use a website like it.. so IMO that would be the worest move ever!
Other than that, if it says the way it is.. no harm, no foul!

A year on and still no charge
but that rumor is still around
    Is Tom really broke??
And I heard that the music industry may be taking legal action

  • 104 - DJ Demo

I don't like MySpace anymore. As a DJ I go to WaTunes.com because it's like a music myspace but much better twist. They're MUCH more safer and secure and block out the spammers, pervs, and nuders. I recommend everyone to ditch MySpace and go to WaTunes.com.

  • 105 - Justin

    Aug 11, 2007 at 11:46 pm

News Corp makes money off myspace by selling space to advertisers. Much how radio and broadcast television work. So no, there is no reason to ever charge for access to myspace. Just like yahoo and google are free.

As for WaTunes, good look for it. Myspace isn't going anywhere, and I won't chase new sites just for the hell of it.
