You still couldn't find anything to say? Here or by e-mail?

Does anything really need to be said? Surely that statement is pretty self evident.

At least the linked post gives the info about pausing for a minute at 12:00 PM, et al - how is anyone expected to know that from this post?

Nice sentiment, any suggestions how to operationalize the title?

I doubt that any terrorists will be observing the moment of silence, but it's a nice memorial observation I suppose.

If the British really want to make terrorism history then they should stop sending their soldiers into other peoples' countries.

Ah yes, the solution to terrorism is to give the terrorists what they want so that they can be told definitively, once and for all, that their tactics work and should be used more extensively - brilliant.

I would submit that it might be worth a shot to start going after terrorists' families. A lot of people are more than willing to die themselves, but if their families are jeapordized, all bets are off. Perhaps if they knew the stakes were higher than just their own miserable lives...? Just a thought. At this point, almost anything would be worth trying.

Altho now I think about it, it might be more effective to hand over Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield, & Wolfowitz, after negotiating a deal: we give you these war-mongers, & you quit attacking us. Works for me, & kills several birds w/one stone.

I think the Israelis tried something like that. It didn't seem to work.

You would rather not give the terrorists what they want and be bombed over and over again?

    >>You would rather not give the terrorists what they want and be bombed over and over again?<<

Yes. It's the only way to respond to terrorism. And BTW, Nancy's idea of becoming terrorists ourselves is a lovely example of leftist hypocrisy.

And Dave's word's in comment 12 is a perfect example of neocon's painting half the population with the statements of one or two people.

    Now that's irony, I'm learning.

"Leftist hypocrisy"? What are you talking about now? First off, I'm not a leftist, I just despise Bush & the current neocon-hijacked nazi - I mean, Republican party. I wrote a long rant about why, too. If you haven't bothered to read it, do so. Secondly, what hypocrisy? I've been advocating using their own methods on them (or worse) if it would work, since the first day I started blogging.

Maynard, my comment in #12 didn't refer to anyone but Nancy and her comment, plus I'm not a Neocon and hold virtually no beliefs in common with them, so how is it "a perfect example of neocon's painting half the population with the statements of one or two people".

Do you have any clue at all?

Dave, "...example of leftist hypocrisy..." sounds to me like something that refers to more than just one person.

Yeah Dave, I do have a clue. You might wish I hadn't. What I did was called an ironic analogy. Did you get it that time? Pay attention to exactly what I said.

I said your "word's were an example of"

You get a clue on the difference? I did learn it from reading your stuff arguing with Gonzo. Now sharpen those comprehension skills. Professor Plum in the conservatory with a candlestick.

A thought to ponder: eradicating religion would make terrorism history. Where have you gone, John Lennon? We need you.

Maynard, you seem to miss the differentiation here. Nancy's statement stands on its own as an example of something larger. I was referring only to what Nancy said, and illuminating it by comparison with a larger trend of which it is representative. The larger trend was not at issue, as it's an established fact.

The 'left', when politically empowered, often allows ends to justify means with tragic results...of course, the same is true for movements from the 'right'. I'm not sure what relevance the left-right distinction holds here.

Nancy - your (obscene) statement indicates an extreme moral failure regardless of your politics.

'Nunnery' - TWO 'n's. Regarding my 'solution', I admit it's not fair or reasonable, but I can't think of anything that might make suicide bombers/terrorists hesitate or start to think that maybe the stakes are too high. They obviously don't mind dying themselves; but many - maybe even most - people will have second thoughts if other innocent persons close to them are going to suffer as well. If you can think up a better way to put a spoke in the wheels of some of these homicidal maniacs, by all means, propose them.
