J.J. Abrams' Lost is going mobile.
Thanks to a deal between Disney and several entertainment industry guilds, the show will take on a new twist with special "mobisodes" being produced for mobile viewers.
Disney had to get a thumbs up from the Screen Actors Guild, the Writers Guild of America and the Directors Guild of America to create the Lost Video Diaries. This series will appear as mini-episodes for cell phone users. The deal was sidelined for several months because of the need for the agreements.
The series will begin shooting this summer in Hawaiii and Verizon Wireless will have the honors of distributing the clips.
I think all parties recognized that the key to success always comes down to the quality of the product," said Carlton Cuse, a WGA member and executive producer of Lost. "By coming to an agreement, the quality and integrity of the stories we tell in this new medium will be consistent with that of the network show."

That deal and Fox's announcement to take Prison Break mobile are lynchpins in opening wide the mobile market for television entertainment. Both series will have special episodes created for the platform and in the case of Lost, if Abrams holds true to form, the episodes should be of the best quality.
