iPhone App Review: J.A.R.V.I.S.

While fast cars, big cash and schmoozing with billionaires at nightly soirees might not be the norm for most, it's just another day at the office for Tony Stark, Marvel's lead character in its "Iron Man" series.

Of course, not all is lost for those still interested in a little taste of the good life. Enter J.A.R.V.I.S., the iPhone app that brings Mr. Stark's personal computer assistant to those wanting a piece of the action.

The app, also compatible on iPod Touch or iPad, is broken down into several sections, including Social Feed, Marvel Comics, Notes, Media and Blu-Ray DVD.

After a quick setup, users are greeted on the main screen with current weather, date and time as well as the user's social media feed.

The app features one of the best integrated social media feeds I've seen or used. Users can easily login to their accounts via the social media menu and post an update to both Facebook and Twitter simultaneously with one touch of the screen.

J.A.R.V.I.S. is also a superb way to follow friends on Facebook and Twitter in one app and in a continuous feed. There is no flipping between separate apps. A huge time saver.

The Marvel Comics section brings users directly to their website where more information can be found about "Iron Man" and other upcoming projects. The Notes section just displays what the app has updated and the Blu-Ray DVD section allows users to purchase the DVD.

Make sure to check out the Media section for a behind the scenes look of the film. A lot of great footage.

In conclusion, with its beautifully integrated social media feeds, intuitive controls and film-inspired graphics, the J.A.R.V.I.S. iPhone app is perfect for the comic fan as well as the non-comic fan wanting both Facebook and Twitter feeds in one location. And with its price of free, it is definitely worth a look. However, the app still won't get you into the same soirees as Mr. Stark.
