I hope Backup 2.0.1 Fixes My Problem

Backup 2.0.1 provides added quality and reliability improvements to scheduled backups and is now available through Software Update in System Preferences and as a download from .Mac.

All I can say is: I sure hope so! This is an error message I keep getting, every day now. It tells me that backup is running! Yea, at 5 AM I am running Backup manually. Hmmmm, I don't think so. I just love manually backing up stuff.

Your post reminds me of the bad old days staying up all night trying to do a backup only to have it hiccup at the end and you have to start all over again.

Ken save yourself some money and get a cheap PC clone with Windows XP on board. XP is stable and has a built in backup called "Automated System Recovery" (no I'm not talking about system restore). It's worth the price of admission alone. All you need is a second hard drive the same size (or partition) and it will make a 40 gig mirror backup in about 40 minutes. It's amazing and more importantly - it works!

In addition I use Powerquest Datakeeper that sits in my system tray and automatically makes backups of changed files. It's like having a Scussi backup device for a fraction of the cost. Put the two together and your bases are covered.

I use Retrospect to backup both my Mac & my PC over my home network.

But that is not the point here.

Backup is a part of the .Mac membership that works very well, version 2 even lets you backup to things other then .Mac.

And Backup should not give stupid errors like this.

I have never heard of the software you suggest, but I have used Retrospect for over 5 yrs. so I am very comfortable using it.
