Hounds Let Loose?

Has the RIAA's campaign to sue everyone who ever heard the term "P2P" quietly begun?

Four students at Massachusetts' prestigious Bentley College have apparently been subpoenaed by the RIAA in what's likely to be one of, if not the first, shot of the promised RIAA onslaught.

"... it would be inappropriate for a college to comment on legal matters involving students or other members of our community," Janet Mendelsohn, the college's director of public affairs, said when we asked for details.

In the meanwhile, "the very fact that they are going after these kids is absolutely ridiculous," said our contact.

"i could go to any computer in the world, download kazaa in 5 mintues, and in another five have enough music to owe them 10 thousand + dollars. How ridiculous is that? they actually expect people to NOT take advantage?" [Gnutella News]

Nothing about it on the Bentley site, but you wouldn't expect there to be. If the idea is to scare people away from P2P, why the stealth approach? Maybe the litigious lingams are laying low until they have a result to trumpet.
