hello samsung, hello blue world | greet the new cell-cam - Page 4

So I’ve lost my speakerphone, my entire contact’s list (though that was expected and is not the fault of the phone), I have a subpar camera phone, either that or I just haven’t figured out how to use it which may be the case, but how counter intuitive is this thing? I mean, I’ve been using it for a week straight every day and can’t seem to make any headway away from the blue tones. I think we took one photograph the night it arrived and that was the first and last time it came out a normal color. it is as if the house has somehow corrupted the phone, or perhaps I just live in a very, very, very blue sort of mermaidesque world and just never noticed before. comme une sirene de la mer… blah blah. Oh Donnez-moi une big break. My world is no more blue than anyone else’s. it’s this damn Samsung phone, and just because IT has a nifty blue case and blue backlight, doesn’t mean the rest of the world does.

In short, I’m not happy with the new guy. I’ve tried to make my peace and yet I still find myself yearning for my old Sanyo. When I tried to repurchase the same phone I was dismayed to find they don’t make that “older” model anymore (I just bought it last year). Maybe I will get used to you, Samsung. Maybe I will understand your blue moods, your Picasso like aspect, who knows, but for now, I’m still missin’ the old Sanyo and it’s square little face peering back at me every day and it’s little “Good Morning Sadi” message that flashed across the screen. Even it’s little greenish light, I miss but most of all, I miss its special eye and how he and i saw the world in the same colors (oh, how much we had in common!) and i miss his little voice that came out whenever I pressed Speaker.

The new guy doesn’t even have a voice. He just has lots of fancy ringtones and I don’t even use those. For now, all he is is a channel for hearing Bob Dylan sing Don’t Think Twice and talking to friends, but when it comes to seeing the world eye-to-eye, Sanyo of mine, you are still unmatched, and yes, still missed.

Personally, I prefer my telephone and digital camera separate, to avoid much of the grief you are experiencing. I do not wish to trade off picture quality for some convenience.

i would agree, though i haven't had the cash to spring for both so have had to setttle for two in one. Plus, i do have my old standard equipment - great big Nikon with telephoto lens and major zoom etc etc., but i'm so impatient these days and developing seems to take forever, so i've become addicted to the immediacy of this little device. if i could find a goood and reasonable priced camera, i would buy one; and maybe i should look around... it can't be too bad these days. in any event, i do plan on borrowing one to try it out, since i've yet to use a real digital and am curious as to the effects etc. - but thanks for reading. Feel free to send along used digital cameras that are no longer wanted when you upgrade to me... :) For now, i have to stick with what i have and for serious work, then it's back to the Nikon etc etc, which i will NEVER get rid of because there is just something about film and a good zoom that still can't be beat - but i'm an atavist in this way. Throw me back!
    Cheers and thanks for reading,

    sade
