It’s been a while but we’re back in style:
Dumpster Bust Radio: Podcast #8
Burnout and a hot spring’s cold (the most fun kind of cold you can have) kept me away for a little while, but the lure of the pod brought me back home, back to the bowels of my apartment building for some late-night podcasting action.
This week, I ruminate about the meaning of existence, and then awkwardly segue into the first part of an interview with Salon.com’s advice columnist, Cary Tennis.
Check out the first part of the print interview with the super cool Mr. Tennis here.
DB Radio #8 Presents
Introduction
Hear ye: hear me ramble on about how I’m trying to reconcile being a podcaster and a writer and a solitary human being all at once. Oh, woe is me-o.
DB Film Squad: What the Bleep Do We Know? and I Heart Huckabees
I defy you to see both of these films and then not kick it philosopher stylin’ for a little while.
Featured Song #1
“Naughty Little Girl” – Matthew Long
This Beatles-esque number is one of the best songs I’ve heard in a long time.
Interview: Cary Tennis, Advice Columnist for Salon.com
In this first part of our interview, we delve into what it’s like to be an advice columnist, the quirks and mechanics of the American Psyche, and how to ascend Mt. Olympus when necessary… well, apparently it’s not that necessary.
Featured Song #2
“It’s a Fugazi” – The Speelmens
Track Listing for Dumpster Bust Radio #8
Dumpster Bust Radio runs podsafe music in the background whilst I yabber. Along with the Featured Songs, the idea is to promote awesome indie music and emerging artists and also to give everyone a break from my tortured vocal yelping every now and again.

Good show - your feed is now in my Doppler Radar, EB

Thanks very much, Aaman -- I haven't yet had the chance to listen to it straight through, so I'm glad you liked it!

Listening right now. Good stuff. The editing sounds really good. You're still rambling, but I'm starting to dig that too. Just a laid back --this is what's on my mind-- kind of deal. Dig it.
Where the f---- do I get my hands on some Matthew Long? I'm loving all over that naughty little song.

Thanks for the comments/feedback, Mat. I've gone back-and-forth over the course of eight shows. At one point, I had a 3,500 word script that I basically read and tried not to sound like I was reading.
At this point, I have a very few number of bullet points, and I just let fly. I think this works for me and hopefully serves the show and makes it entertaining and spontaneous. Thanks for comments about the editing as well. I did some major editing on the fly for this one. For example, I spoke for about five minutes on the differences between conformism and individualism, then decided to scrap it because it wasn't working.
Here is Matthew Long's profile on GarageBand. It's got a neat little bio, and you can listen to a number of his tracks.
He's pretty special, isn't he? I'll likely play a song called "So Blue" on an upcoming show.

Downloaded this earlier Eric. i await my DB fix with unbridled glee.

Duke, I don't consider a show complete until you've checked in with the DB Radio.

Eric, wonderful as ever, man. I'm listening now. Great talk with regards Huckabees and What The Bleep...
Great job on discussing the latter whilst still making sense!! From the reviews i've read here and there, this seems to be a difficult thing to accompolish.
I hope you're feelin all rested an less burned-out, man. I was feelin it, right there.
This First song, the bestles-esque number, is delightful. Reminds me a bit of Elliot Smith, too...

9 - Eric Berlin
I don't know if I did the What the Bleep justice, so I'm curious to hear others thoughts on it for sure.
Anyway, thanks as always, Mr. Duke. I'll be checking out Mondo #10 within the next few days -- greatly looking forward to it.
