Dumpster Bust Radio #2: Ash Interviewed, and Other Smash Things

Part of: Dumpster Bust Radio

Here it is, hot and fresh:

Dumpster Bust Radio: Podcast #2

This show, check out:

- Feature Story: Interview with Tim Wheeler of Ash
- Featured Song: "Girl From Nova Skotia," by Phenomenal Fleeners
- Hooked on the Net: Overheard in New York.com
- Cathode Ray Fray: The Week in TV
- Other assorted madness and indie music laying out in the background.

As I mention on the show, DB Radio is now an official radio station for GarageBand, which means that now the show can help to promote thousands of up-and-coming artists and bands.

Just to update, too, on what DB Radio is all about: it's a magazine-style show that touches on what Dumpster Bust itself gets into: a little bit of everything, from politics to music, from television to culture. Miracles From Mind Trash. Add in interviews and lots of indie music, and that's a radio show!

Track Listing for Dumpster Bust Radio #2

"Black Star" - Apash (Show Intro)
Near the front of the show, I read an e-mail from a member of Apash, who writes the show from Italy, on the air... very entertaining stuff.

"Gone" - Rude King
"So was willst du?" - Schlockmaster
"Girl From Nova Skotia" - Phenomenal Fleeners (Featured Song)
From now on there will be a featured song, during which time I shut up and let the music roll. This song is a good one: spooky alternative rock meets "Rock Lobster," with horns!

"Don't They" - The Blue Method
"Sequencer Funk" - UNIT-E

Please let me know what you thought of the show. I'm working on getting each show better than the one before it.

i just downloaded this, eric. REALLY looking forward to hearing it, especially your yackings with those Downpatrick miscreants.

I once called a hotel in Downpatrick. "Hello. is this downpatrick"
    "ah, we're in Downpatrick."
    "ash come from there!"
    "yes."
    I hung up.

Another time, i called the directory enquiries and sang Wonderwall by Oasis. Amazingly, they held on until i finished, then the fella said, to his eternal credit, "nice one mate. Almsot as good as Liam."

and finally, i think my favourite is the time i called the crimestoppers and reported my penis stolen.
"was it worth stealing?" she asked.

Thanks Duke. I feel as though if I have a fan in the Duke, at the least, than it's worthwhile to do the show.

Brilliant on the Wonderwall. Did you implement your singer-songwriter acoustic axe on said call?

Reminds me a bit of one of my roommates at college, who was about the best prank phone caller I've ever seen (better than the Crank Yankers puppets at any rate). On one occasion, he cold called a freshman on campus, and convinced the deluded chap to run amongst the dormitories looking for a phantom weed dealer. On another, a bit less nice, he convinced a floor full of kids (freshmen again, of course) that there was a gas leak in their building and that they needed to wake everybody up and get the hell out (this, of course, at four in the morn).

    Ah, good times...

Definitely let us know what you thought of the show!

ha!! aw, shit, man. Just as you were asking the question i was thinking "Fuck! I meant to say Heinekin!!!" My spelling of said lager may be wrong, incidentally.

    I apologise man. hahah

I just walked the dog, come back and see The Duke blogging my radio show.

Sunny skies in SoCal. Two words:

    Right on.

What? Aare you on friggin vacation? You just walked the dog?.

    Or are you blind?

:-) Haven't listened yet. Getting a little grossed out icky by the stroking going on above me LOL.

eric, i loved the first one man, but i gotta say, this was a LEAP forward, is the truth of the matter. In so far as content delivery and pacing and all that jazz, this was excellent. your yacking was superb throughout, and the only potential niggle is the occasionally distorted sound-levels on your voice. This, however, is one of those dull-as-hell technical issues. Everything else on there, choice of music (i agree, VERY nirvana esque, that opening band), your delivery (funny as hell, and informative and good shit like that, too), the interview, everything was great. Congrats, man.

Temple - You'd think you'd be tickled pink at some nicery around here as compared to the usual griping and scratching that can arise via the politics talk and such.

Duke - Yeah, I'm still trying to work out some weird tech issues. Weird to me, anyway. Likely simple-as-cake to somehow with a degree of acumen. I'll try to get that tweaked for next show.

And yeah, I felt like it was an improvement. Trying to make each show better than the last is my goal.

Temple (again): I'm working afternoons / evenings throughout April.

No blindness or trust funds up in here (at least not yet).

agreed, this is definitely a leap forward.

also, for those interested in overheardinnewyork.com, check out foundmagazine.com. it's a sort of physical object equivalent (and great for wasting hours & hours of time.)

    >>Temple - You'd think you'd be tickled pink at some nicery around here

Very true, but it's a fine line :-)

Of course, I was joking. I'm happy you're doing this - and Duke too. I haven't listened to MIP5 (Mondo Irlando Podcast) yet, either.

    Delayed pleasures both.

Temple - I'm not kissing the Duke's ass. His #5 show is one of the best things I've ever heard. It's great.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on all things p-cast...

Eric, you seem to have set up a false dichotomy there: it could very well be that you *are* kissing the Duke's hindquarters, but that MIP5 is also the best you've ever heard. :-)

    Okay -- shameless plug time.

DB Radio is now listed on PodcastAlley.com. Podcasts are ranked by voting, which is now done on a once per month basis.
