A small how-to on taking care of those laptops. These puppies are not made of titanium. They are plastic.

Try to guess which piece of hardware is most often replaced on laptop computers. LCD Monitor? Cold. Keyboard? Getting warmer. Mouse pad? Getting hot. Victor, how many low level, non IT peeps do you see reading this? I'm just saying, it's a good article straight to the point and entertaing. I guess you could change the negative to postive/reinforcing statements for say a corporate wide E-mail but you'd also need to revise the course language. For the audience; satirical, cynical, overworked IT peeps it was good.

Its amazing the things people will do with their computers. Its even worse when the person in question somehow believes they know a damn thing about computers.
Only recently I recieved a desktop machine which the owner had tried fixing themselves by opening it up and now it wont turn on. Turns out there was no heatsink on the processor (which was an athlon XP - no chip on earth will burn faster). After describing what a heatsink was to the customer they said "Oh that thing - I took that out it didnt seem to be necessary" ... oh dear. .. oh dear.

AS I SIT HERE TYPING IN ALL CAPS, I FIND MYSELF WISHING THAT I'D READ THIS BLOG ENTRY BEFORE I SPILLED COFFEE ON MY LAPTOP KEYBOARD AND EVIDENTLY FRIED MY CAPS LOCK KEY IN THE LOCKED POSITION.

THE ADVENTURE CAN BE SUMMED UP AS FOLLOWS
COFFEE+DOG+KEYBOARD=ARGH. ARGH. ARGH, I SAY. ARGH.

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS EVIDENTLY WORTH A CUP OF COFFEE AFTER ALL. *OFF TO ORDER A KEYBOARD COVER*
