But those are rather trivial things in actuality, as no distro is perfect (regardless of what excited message board posters would like you to believe), and no book can cover absolutely everything without just getting unwieldy. Overall, Rickford Grant does an amazing job of simplifying the process of converting to Linux, with measured patience and clear organization. Any new user in your life (or perhaps you yourself) would do well to pick up this book and go through the whole thing. It's both clear and detailed enough that I would feel completely comfortable giving it to my Mom and letting her loose on her own computer (actually, that's not a bad idea...). Because doing so would provide me a good deal more time for finishing these beers.
