  I'll celebrate by contributing my first post, with another frighteningly, absurdly long one to come.
  Almost as scary is hitting 'publish' and 'save' here for the first time -- and that from an agency journalist who's been doing far worse with quite serious stuff for decades.
  Which means, I guess, that I'm delighted to be aboard.

  Eric, dude, the anniversary is definitely today, the 12th. The stuff you did on Tres Producers doesn't count! The first Blogcritics post is clearly from August 12th, 2002. Note the lack of a link to a previous article! See also the official announcement from that same day, as well as my inaugural post, proving that I'm an old-timer.
