Want to jump on the podcasting bandwagon but don't have the tech tools needed to do it? Autocast is an open source program that will convert your RSS feed into mp3 audio files. Unfortunately, the program only works with Windows.
Thanks for the heads-up, Greg.

Autocast looks as though it converts text to audio, which is super cool... but will anyone listen to aome automated voice drone on, like a computer spitting out binary data?
This is kind of a far cry from the spirit of podcasting, in my opinion, which at its best is about passionate amateurs (and pros) getting their voice and opinions out to the masses.

Actually, I agree with you Eric. It could also be used to convert text to audio for blind folk, which may come in handy for sites that would cause a screen reader to wig out. (I'm thinking that Bloglines itself would be information overload.)

That's a good point, Anna, though I believe several different kinds of screen readers exist. This might be an inexpensive option for blind folk to get auto-feeds queued up and rolling automatically.
