The suit seeks $5 million plus punitive damages, and names Cingular, AT&T Wireless, and AT&T as defendants.
In October 2004, Cingular merged with AT&T Wireless in a move that Cingular promised would "raise the bar" for all customers of both companies. Now former AT&T Wireless users have filed a lawsuit claiming that "Cingular misrepresented to AT&T Wireless customers that they would enjoy the benefits of their current phones, rate plans, and features, without any service interruption," but that instead, "existing AT&T Wireless subscribers who have not 'transferred' to Cingular have suffered, and continue to suffer."…

I have terrible service with AT&T. My son's phone will not work only 5 miles from my home. We did not want to become part of AT&T but had not choice. Had to get new phones. We are considering another service

Strangely, I never had any problems with Cingular. However, AT&T was constantly trying to rip me off. First with my land line phone, then with my wireless. When Cingular switched back to AT&T I switched to T-Moble and have been extremely happy. Now my son got an AT&T go-phone and we are having several problems with the SIM card. For me, AT&T hardware and service just suck. It will be a long time before I use their service again.

SPRINT CELL SERVICE WAS AWESOME !!! Now I have SUCKY AT&T, which is as bad as CINGULAR WAS, which is why I used SPRINT for so long. They are underrated as a cell service provider and are better than verizon too. But I wanted the buttery smooth iPhone, it is a very good device, but not a very good cell phone, and to make it worse, AT&T voice service SUCKS the BIG ONE!!! Even if I have full bars the quality is poor, garbled, missed words and sentences, under-water sounding, especially if you are talking to another network user (not on AT&T), ITS LIKE THEY INTENTIONALLY screw with calls to other service providers.
