Do you often feel like someone is standing on your head or playing jump rope inside your brain? If so then you know exactly how it feels to have a migraine.
According to the Migraine Research Foundation, nearly one in four U.S. households has someone who suffers from migraines. Migraines can range from something you get rarely to a debilitating experience that lands you in the emergency room.
Almost everyone has or will experience a migraine at least once in their life. But it doesn’t mean you’re unhealthy or that they will affect you chronically. Migraines can be brought on by serious health problems but also by everyday habits we never think to consider.
Certain foods cause migraines in some people. People who suffer from respiratory illnesses like sinus and allergies can experience migraines often. It’s very common for women to get migraines before, during, and after their menstruation. What many people don’t realize is that there are things all around us that can cause migraines in almost anybody.
Below are some things that most of us use in our everyday lives that could contribute to headaches and migraines for certain people.
Cell Phones
Some people get headaches after using their cell phone. It’s not necessarily due to the cell phone itself but how you position it when you’re using it. Many people perch their cell phone on their shoulder not realizing the tension being added to the neck and shoulder. Day to day this can cause pressure to your neck and upper back. It’s also been said that the heat from the battery of a cell phone may cause headaches in some people. Try changing up how you use your phone and for how long at a time.
Computers
Staring at a computer screen all day is known to make your eyes strained and tired. This is especially true for people who already have vision problems. Try limiting your time at the computer, adjusting the light on your monitor, or investing in some computer glasses.
