Apple Set to Unleash Lion - Will it Roar?

Part of: NewsFlash

Word on the street is that Apple is launching its latest operating system tomorrow, July 20. OS X 10.7, also known as Lion, will replace Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6). The upgraded operating system will be available in Apple’s Mac App Store, and will sell for $29.99.

This will be a major upgrade, with more than 250 new features, including “mission control,” which allows you to see everything going on in your system with a simple gesture, “launch pad,” which allows you to see (ala iPhone or iPad) all your apps in a full screen display, and a much improved mail application (which from the images on Apple.com looks an awful lot like the great mail app on iPad. One of the neatest-looking features is the “resume,” which keeps your place when you have to close a program or shut down your Mac. When you restart, the application will restart exactly where you left off.

Autosave continuously saves your work and should minimize the frustration that comes with data loss. It also allows you to clone a document, so you can use it as a template.

So? What are you thoughts? Are you planning to upgrade as soon as it hits the App Store? Or will you wait and see.

No doubt it'll be confusing for the first week or two but from what I've read, it's great for the sort of user who dips in and out (short spells of work) rather than the sit down at it for hours on end. I guess that Apple a taking another step forward towards making all their devices look and feel the same.

Question is, what will come after Lion. Are there any bigger cats out there to call their next OS :)
