This is by far the most difficult thing I have had to write: Dodgeblogium and its sister sites (both live & dormant) have lost a true friend in the form of Heather "Mommabear'. It is the final act in what has been a long and eventful life.
This year she had to bury her husband, who ended his own life so that hers might be easier in her final days. I know full well that Heather, a cantankerous lady, will have fought the cancer that took her with every bit of her being.
We have known each other since I pinched her from Samizdata to keep tabs on my writing excesses. She has edited my blog in its various forms: Liberty Cadre, GoD blog, The Dark Side blog, my posts on Blogcritics and the stories that have ended up on both Temple of Dagon & in my book The Gathering Dark & other Tales.
She was a filter for most of my writing and kept it fairly clean and tidy. I would not been in the position where I am as a writer without her considerable effort on my behalf. We spoke almost every day on MSN and often shared a virtual pint.
To say that Mommabear, one of the Bellicose women, will be missed is an understatement in extremis. My life and that of countless others will be a wee bit darker from now on.
Mommabear Requiem in Pace.

Grey Monk has paid his own tribute.
