San Diego awaits as 150,000 fans descend on this year's Comic-Con. Catch the latest from Blogcritics' team of writers on the scene.

San Diego Comic-Con 2014: Anticipation

I write this sitting in the airport awaiting my flight to San Diego for this year’s annual insanity known as San Diego Comic-Con, AKA SDCC (or if you’re hash-tagging, #SDCC2014). This is my third SDCC, and Blogcritics is bringing team of writers to the SDCC to cover everything from collectibles and games to the latest genre television series and yet-to-be-released blockbuster movies. And, of course, comics. And the sights and sounds of cosplayers dressed as everything from R2D2 and C3PO to any one of the Doctors in the Who-verse. comic-con

The gargantuan fan convention will be attended by nearly 150,000 pop culture-ites, who will attend panels (often camping out in line to get a seat in the infamous Hall H), star-gaze, model the latest in alien attire, and party, party, party. Some come to get first edition collectibles; some seek autographs, and others come to learn the craft from the masters of writing, animation and other genre artistry.

SDCC has gotten to be such an important event that every major studio, network and publisher comes to show off their wares to fans and journalists. The major news networks will be covering events and competing for scoops with bloggers and podcaster each day, from tonight’s preview night through Sunday evening.

My schedule is packed with TV interviews, panels and parties. I’ll be reporting the latest from the pressrooms on summer series, including FX’s The Strain (Guillermo del Toro’s horror/sci-fi hybrid) and TNT’s The Last Ship  to fan favorites like Once Upon a Time (I’ll be speaking with most of the cast, including Robert Carlyle, Ginnifer Goodwin, Emilie de Ravin, Lana Parrilla, and more) and Resurrection (both on ABC). I’ll be in the Hannibal (NBC) press room to pick up any clues about what season three will bring. I’ll be joining the cast of Syfy’s Helix to talk about season two, and the cast of ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D to talk season two. Touching base with the Sleepy Hollow cast is also on the agenda! And then there are the highly anticipated series debuting this autumn: Dig, Legends, Wayward Pines.
