Rock Hall Inductions Tonight

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland is airing a closed-circuit feed from the Induction Ceremony from the Waldorf Astoria in NYC tonight. My great pal Johanna Hoadley is webcasting the event live from the Rock Hall:

    8:31 p.m.
Ahmet Ertegun, founder and chairman of the rock and roll hall of fame, has started the ceremony. He’s welcoming the audience to the 19th induction ceremony of “this grand organization”

He is thanking Clive Davis for donations to the foundation. And welcomes Sen. George Voinovich of Ohio who is at the Waldorf-Astoria. He’s urging everyone to go visit the museum in Cleveland (and the crowd cheers loudly.)

    8:29 p.m.
“We don’t know when it’s going to start, but I’m sure it will start soon,” says the local DJ in Cleveland.

    8:19 p.m.
Got a bunch of asking about what folks are wearing at the show in NY. So far we haven’t seen any stars/inductees yet, but I’ll be sure to clue you in on Prince and Bob Seger’s attire when they take the stage.

Locally the attire is casual. Lots of jeans and cargo pants. We’ve got a couple folks sporting the Harley Davidson/ZZ Top look in long beards and lots of black leather. I’ve got a couple of Jackson Browne fans sitting directly behind me that drove all the way from Cincinnati to see their favorite musician inducted in the hall tonight. They are praying for the snow to hold off for their drive back south tomorrow.

    ….5:59 p.m.
Prince is doing a quick sound check (“Let’s Go Crazy” – perhaps a sign of what’s to come later tonight) and the technical folks at the Rock Hall are testing out the equipement for the simulcast.

Things are looking and sounding great!

Stay tuned here for play-by-play throughout the evening. The Induction Ceremony official start time is 8 p.m.
