The mirthful chaps over at RiffTrax (formerly the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000) have donned their holiday gear and are set to deliver their second live theater event, and first holiday-themed outing: the Rifftrax Christmas Shorts-Stravaganza.

The event will be broadcast live to theaters around the U.S. on Wednesday, December 16. Beamed live from Escondido, California, the Stravaganza will feature Mike Nelson, Bill Corbett (Crow T. Robot), and Kevin Murphy (Tom Servo) unwrapping the crap out of some certainly less-than-Yuletide short film gifts. For those unable to make the live broadcast, the program will again be shown the following night, Thursday, December 17.

Their previous live event — where they riffed the sci-fi enigma Plan 9 From Outer Space — was a resounding success. The guys are as seamless and funny live on the big screen as they are on the small screen. And this time they will be joined by "Weird Al" Yankovic (a previous contributor to one of their RiffTrax commentary tracks).

In addition, attendees will receive "digital goodies" (codes for downloadable material) from the event, consisting of some short films, songs, and pics.

Ticketing and theater information for either date can be found at the Fathom event page.
