Rick Santorum Concession Speech – Now A Top Selling Ring Tone

WASHINGTON D.C. – Some have accused Democrats of gloating after the election day win of both the House and Senate and if sales of the hottest new ring tone are any indication, gloating has never been more profitable.

Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, who lost to Bob Casey this past Tuesday, made a concession speech, surrounded by his wife and crying children, and now that speech is the number one selling ringtone in the country.

According to Billboard, Santorum’s speech ringtone  has outsold all others, a first for a spoken word ringtone. “It’s usually musicians at the top of the list, not conservative Republicans,” said Bill Ferguson, Billboard Ringtone Analyst.

Santorum, whose conservative, religious political positions included his argument that if gay marriage was allowed in this country, making sex with animals legal would be next, lost his bid for reelection in Pennsylvania, but sales of the ringtone of his speech are a national phenomenon.

“I hate that guy,” explained Cookie Williams, a hair stylist in West Hollywood, California, “I Tivo’d his speech and burnt DVD’s of it for all my friends, I’ve got a picture of him giving the speech as my screen saver and the ringtone is like a birthday present every time I get a call.”

I’ve got to ask. Is that photo for real, or was it photoshopped. Surely his children didn’t really look like that during the speech.

    Dave

  • Adrian Kimberly

No Photoshopping was needed to make America’s creepiest family look like a poster for the next remake of The Addams Family.

Even better was a photo taken at the same event that has the kid hidden over there to the far left toss the finger at America while he “pretends” to “adjust” his glasses.

The fact that the little girl’s dress matches her doll’s dress seems very, very strange, considering the girl looks old enough to be contimplating The Pill next year…

  • Arch Conservative

The moonbats have Santorum’s concession speech but we on the other side will always have Howard dean’s
“I have a Scream” speech and nothing will ever top that.

    YEEEEEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • http://www.diablog.us Dave Nalle

I always thought Santorum was creepy, but to see it visually confirmed like this really makes me glad his pinheaded ass got the boot.

    Dave

  • pleasexcusetheinterruption

HOLY SHIT. I’m sorry Arch, that picture is worth 10 “I have a scream” speeches.

  • http://www.diablog.us Dave Nalle

Dressing your child like that for a public appearance ought to be considered child abuse.

I think the facial expression on young Sarah Santorum may be because she just found out that she was born too late to enjoy a family evening with the corpse of her stillborn brother Gabriel.

    Dave

  • http://www.roblogpolitics.blogspot.com RJ Elliott

Jeezus…do we have to kick the guy (and his family!) while he’s down?

Santorum’s concession speech was quite magnanimous. And in response, we are making fun of his children?

Get a grip, people. I actually sorta like Bob Casey. I’d hate to think his supporters are a bunch of cruel pricks…

  • http://www.diablog.us Dave Nalle

RJ, I don’t support either of the guys and I guess I’m a cruel prick anyway. And Santorum was such a smug, sanctimonious bastard he deserves a few kicks. But you’re right that it’s not fair on the kids. That 8 year old in the front is as much a victim as anything else. I blame the parents who dressed her like that and probably shoved her towards the camera while she was blubbering. I hope she makes them pay for it for the rest of their lives in some way.

    Dave

  • http://www.myspace.com/billyslocumb Billy Slocumb

I just wish I had been there to lick the sweet salty tears from her cheeks.
I don’t think the child is crying just because “daddy” lost the election. I think she is crying because she knows there will be Hell to pay in the Santorum home later that night. The other children also appear visibly frightened! Would you want to go home with that barbarian when he’s angry?!

  • jj

I blame Rick Santorum for using his family like a prop like that. I would never force my daughter to appear on TV if she were feeling so hurt like that. This just shows how Rcik Santorum is more of a politician than a human being.

His subconscious message is basically “look at what the democrats do, they make children cry”

  • http://www.travelingsideshow.com Joe Wilson

If you’re going to veto stem cell research funding or concede an election, the RNC playbook says, always have some kids around.

  • Amanda

The comment that was left stating, “I think the facial expression on young Sarah Santorum may be because she just found out that she was born too late to enjoy a family evening with the corpse of her stillborn brother Gabriel,” was completely cruel and unecessary. I can only hope that you experience such a traumatic and heartwrenching experience as a failed pregnancy. You are a heartless human being to find such sadistic humor in that statement. People like you make me physically sick, and I can not help but be completely disgusted by you and pity your sad self as you wallow in ignorance.

  • http://www.diablog.us Dave Nalle

Amanda, what’s cruel and unecessary is bringing home a dead child and making your living children – all quite young at the time – be traumatized by the experience of ‘saying goodbye’ to it. That’s where the sickness lies. I can only imagine what other twisted experiences those kids have been through.

    Dave

  • http://www.roblogpolitics.blogspot.com RJ Elliott

Dave – You know I love ya, man! But I just think it’s a little “beyond the pale” to make fun of a prepubescent girl because of the clothes her parents made her wear, or because she is crying in the wake of her father losing his job. I realize the target of your criticisms is actually Rick Santorum, not his family, but still… :-/

  • MCH

“I think the facial expression on young Sarah Santorum may be because she just found out that she was born too late to enjoy a family evening with the corpse of her stillborn brother Gabriel.”
    – Dave Nalle

Now there’s the REAL Dave Nalle we all love to hate.

  • http://www.roblogpolitics.blogspot.com RJ Elliott

Look, it was funny, on a certain level…but it was kinda gallows humor…probably turned a lot of people off… :-/

Of course, I’m not exactly innocent of the crime of making the occasional “rude” or “crude” or “offensive” joke…so mayhaps I’m sort of the proverbial ass-hat flinging rocks about in a glass house…but I guess I’m one of those rare people who doesn’t harbor a deep hatred for Rick Santorum, so I decided to come to his defense…

  • Ajay

You people have some nerve. Rick Santorum is a great man and an amazing Senator. He will be missed dearly in Washington. The only reason Bob Casey won was because he’s a Socially Conservative Democrat in a slightly-blue leaning state that is more traditional than say its next door neighbor New Jersey.

Senator Santorum is a hero to a LOT of people, and I am sure we have not heard the last of this great American. God Bless Him!

  • Rick

You are going to burn in hell Dave. Shame on you.

  • http://www.diablog.us Davd Nalle

I may be burning in hell, but at least I’ll be laughing while I do it.

Plus Rick Santorum will be there next to me.

    Dave

  • Clavos

Plus Rick Santorum will be there next to me.

Shades of Dante! That’s what will make it hell for you, Dave.

  • Martin Lav

“Now there’s the REAL Dave Nalle we all love to hate.”

    Couldn’t agree more.

    Dave,
You finally put in writing what I suspected all along, you are a mean spirited spoiled brat that has no shame for anything you do that serves your ends. Left, Right or center. If you don’t agree you will go to know end to prove your point even if it means sinking lower than whale shit. You should be ashamed. Who are you to judge wether it’s right or wrong to mourn the loss of a still born baby? Were you there? In fact many pyschologist would agree that too many families in similar circumstances do more harm by simply ignoring what happened, not burying their child nor acknowledging with their children that a living thing that they felt kicking in the womb, is here today gone tomorrow.

“You are a heartless human being to find such sadistic humor in that statement. People like you make me physically sick, and I can not help but be completely disgusted by you and pity your sad self as you wallow in ignorance.”

I think Amanda sums this up nicely…..

  • Clavos

From the Washington Post article titled “Father First, Senator Second, published April 18, 2005:

Upon their son’s death, Rick and Karen Santorum opted not to bring his body to a funeral home. Instead, they bundled him in a blanket and drove him to Karen’s parents’ home in Pittsburgh. There, they spent several hours kissing and cuddling Gabriel with his three siblings, ages 6, 4 and 1 1/2. They took photos, sang lullabies in his ear and held a private Mass.

IMO, that’s a sick way to mourn, and a terrible thing to which to subject young children.

    Shudder.

  • Martin Lav

That is your opinion and you are welcome to it, but to deride his children because of it is simply heartful.

  • Clavos

    Martin,

    I think you meant hurtful.

I didn’t deride anyone except Santorum and his wife, whom I think richly deserve it.

  • Dan

I don’t really want to comment on Santorum’s family. However, I think the voters of this great state were right in punishing a high-ranking fundamentalist. The great danger of the 21st century are fundamentalists be the from the right or the left. It is dangerous and irresponsible to mix religion and politics and start a culture war. Elected officials should serve their tax-paying citizens and work hard to balance the budget, protect citizens from crime and terrorism, provide a framework for affordable healthcare and protect progess of science (including stemm cell research to help sufferers from MS, cancer,..).
Senator Santorum’s did a shockingly poor job and he deserbed to get kicked out of office.

  • MCH

“Look, it was funny, on a certain level…but it was kinda gallows humor…probably turned a lot of people off… :-/”
    – RJ Elliott

Look, Elliott, only a bully/wimp like Nalle would find humor in the mocking of a 12-year old girl in that manner.

It reminds me of the time Rush Limbaugh (another classless phoney) attacked the appearance of 13-year old Chelsea Clinton a few years ago.

  • http://www.diablog.us Davd Nalle

Martin and MCH who choose to interpret my comment as ‘mocking’ the little girl are shamelessly warping it to suit their particular agendas.

Obviously my comment was a criticism of the Santorum family and their creepiness, both in how they dealt with their loss of a stillborn child and their treatment of their children in this photo op. Anyone who interpreted it any other way is a fool or an opportunist just looking for an excuse to bash me.

I am ABSOLUTELY NOT ashamed to find Santorum and his lifestyle and his beliefs and his abuse of his children unacceptable, and those who want to take me to task for it can frankly go fuck themselves. And that means both MCH and Martin.

And BTW, MCH. Sarah Santorum is 8, not 12, which makes it enormously worse to expose her as he did.

It reminds me of the time Rush Limbaugh (another classless phoney) attacked the appearance of 13-year old Chelsea Clinton a few years ago.

Except that I did not attack the child’s appearance, but her treatment by her parents, albeit in a sarcastic way which seems to have gone over your head.

Nice to see that Clavos, at least, gets my point. He laid it out in simpler terms for those who had trouble with my version in #13.

Martin, THEY BROUGHT THE DEAD BABY HOME AND MADE THE 18 MONTH OLD CUDDLE IT. For that they ought to be arrested. Under what circumstances is THAT an acceptable form of mourning. Maybe for the adults who have a choice. Never for children forced into it.

You call me sick, I call you straight-out twisted for condoning this sort of behavior.

    Dave

  • http://www.diablog.us Davd Nalle

and BTW, if I didn’t find a little bit of black, sarcastic humor in the situation I’d be crying about it. I’d rather scorn and ridicule Santorum as he deserves than pointlessly wring my hands about it.

    Dave

  • Martin Lav

Two wrongs don’t make it right Dave.
    Shame on you.

  • MCH

“…and those who want to take me to task for it can frankly go fuck themselves. And that means both MCH and Martin.”
    – Dave Nalle

I always considered you a professional of superior intellect, but you’re really quite…EMOTIONAL…

    …aren’t you?

  • MCH

“The comment that was left stating, “I think the facial expression on young Sarah Santorum may be because she just found out that she was born too late to enjoy a family evening with the corpse of her stillborn brother Gabriel,” was completely cruel and unecessary. Hey bully/wimp, don’t forget Amanda…

  • JR

Dave Nalle: Martin, THEY BROUGHT THE DEAD BABY HOME AND MADE THE 18 MONTH OLD CUDDLE IT. For that they ought to be arrested.

Whoa, look who’s suddenly become a champion of the Nanny State!

Cuddling a dead fetus is sick and wrong if you were raised to believe it’s sick and wrong (and yeah, I too think it is); but for someone raised believing it’s normal, I rather doubt it will be a problem. Hell, any 18-month-old worth his salt will routinely do more disgusting things even without the prodding of parents or, worse yet, older siblings.

In any case, millions of people smoke around their kids and that is demonstrably more harmful to childrens’ health. Still, we don’t send Social Services in and start busting up families. Maybe we ought to hold off on outlawing something until we can prove it’s harmful to the rest of us. If these kids all turn out to be serial killers, then feel free to say, “I told you so”.

Raising kids is the about most fundamental expression of self-determination there is. Most people want to pass on their own values to their children; when you have the State micromanaging that process and dictating values, you’ve pretty much reached the height of totalitarianism.

“You call me sick, I call you straight-out twisted” — Dave Nalle

“A horse is a horse of course” Mr. Ed

Dude, all these streams of piss went pretty far. This is a close one. We’ll have to measure it.

  • Clavos

“The comment that was left stating, “I think the facial expression on young Sarah Santorum may be because she just found out that she was born too late to enjoy a family evening with the corpse of her stillborn brother Gabriel,” was completely cruel and unecessary. …Missed the point.

  • Martin Lav

    CLAVOS:

“IMO, that’s a sick way to mourn, and a terrible thing to which to subject young children.

    Shudder.”

What you and Dave seem to be missing in your high and mighty vitriol is that you do the same as which you claim to despise and therefore that makes you both the worst kind of hypocrits.

  • Clavos

    Huh??

  • http://www.futonreport.net/ Matthew T. Sussman

And Martin wins by half a tinkle.

  • Clavos

Call me stupid, but I still don’t see what I said that makes me hypocritical, Martin.

I did not criticize nor joke about the kids.

I did criticize the parents, as you quote above.

    So, where’s my hypocrisy?

  • MCH

    Sussman;

Get off your knees and quit measuring people’s pee ….

  • Clavos

    Oh, and BTW, Martin.

I noticed your use of “vitriol” in your last comment.

    Congratulations, you’re a fast learner.

Stick with me, Martin. Your vocabulary will grow like a mushroom.

    You’re welcome.

  • http://www.diablog.us Dave Nalle

    I pee vitriol, so there.

    Dave

  • http://www.fifthdentist.blogspot.com The Fifth Dentist

I detest Santorum and everything he stands for. The country is much better off without him. I also agree with those who’ve said that the picture of his family is quite creepy.

That said, I have no problem with him bringing home the dead fetus to see the family. A miscarriage is a horrible thing to have to experience and it’s up to the individual to deal with it however they can.

  • Martin Lav

    Clavos,

The hypocrisy, in my opinion, is that you subject the children in a public forum to your vitriol (compliments of Clavos’ shit).

  • Clavos

I did no such thing, Martin.

    I didn’t write the article.

I didn’t initiate the comment thread.

And I’ve not made any derogatory remarks about the children — only their parents.

But, as you say, that’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it, though it has no basis in fact, as I’ve outlined above.

    I call bullshit, Martin.

  • Martin Lav

My point, and I’ll even admit it’s a weak one, is that you (Clavos) may contribute to the degradation of the children’s pysche by in fact saying what their parents did is sick and wrong.
No child that I know of would want to hear that said about their parents.

However, I will concede to you, that you personally did not make a derogatory statement about the children directly, which I believe NALLE did and since I presume you to be his “enforcer of wrong” I lumped you in with him.

    I stand corrected.

Keep adding the shit and this mushroom will grow.

  • Nancy

Dave, stand your ground; it’s Santorum Sanctimonious et ux who are the tasteless creepos here. You’re entitled to your opinions just as they are to theirs. Only a skank like Santorum would force an upset kid to face the public like that. Hopefully this will force him & his wife back under the rock they crawled out of originally.

  • http://www.travelingsideshow.com Joe Wilson

Somehow I thought this article Tickle Me Elmo Celebrity Sex Tape Scandal was going to cause more controversy than this Santorum one.

  • President Santorum

Rick Santorum will be the next President of the United States. He is a great man, and like the saying goes, if they’re shooting at you, you must be doing something right! He stands up for American values and principles and god bless him for that!

  • http://www.joewilsoncomedy.com Joe Wilson

And I guess that’s what they call baiting.

  • http://alienboysworld.blogspot.com Christopher Rose

Ajay, Rick, President Santorum are all the same person…

  • http://www.diablog.us Dave Nalle

However, I will concede to you, that you personally did not make a derogatory statement about the children directly, which I believe NALLE did and since I presume you to be his “enforcer of wrong” I lumped you in with him.

Martin, I don’t need Clavos to be my enforcer. Go back and read #27, especially the part about ‘go fuck yourself’. If you’re so disconnected from reality that you can’t see the point I was making then I suggest you keep it to yourself to avoid looking like the sick, evil person you’re demonstrating yourself to be.

    Dave

  • Martin Lav

“Obviously my comment was a criticism of the Santorum family and their creepiness, both in how they dealt with their loss of a stillborn child and their treatment of their children in this photo op. Okay Dave I read it.
Now read this, your first post:

“Dressing your child like that for a public appearance ought to be considered child abuse.

I think the facial expression on young Sarah Santorum may be because she just found out that she was born too late to enjoy a family evening with the corpse of her stillborn brother Gabriel.”

And although I may have for a second thought about sinking to your level and telling you GFY, I will not. I am simply pointing out that your illustration to make your point about how offensive Santorum and his family is to you is not properly made by being offensive yourself.
And I won’t sink to your level and be equally offensive in my remarks to your remarks that were equally offensive to me and others.

    Kiss?

  • Ajay

You liberal atheist wackjobs are going to lose this culture war and its men like the honorable Senator from Pennsylvania who will win it.

  • Nancy

Yeah, right. Another proponent of the Karl Rove “if you repeat it enough some idiots may eventually come to believe it” school of endless carping. Ajay, you like Santorum so much, go crawl under his rock with him.

  • Ajay

Atleast I’m not some wackjob secularist lib who blames America for the terrorist problem and thinks it’s cool to kill babies.

  • Nancy

No, you’re a wackjob religio-fascist control freak who blames anyone who doesn’t think in lockstep with you as being terrorists; and you don’t mind killing babies … as long as they’re grown up. Odd how you consider embryos to have superior rights to grown, conscious adults, especially women. Says a lot about your particular misogynistic tendencies, what?

  • Frank

I just can’t believe that sicko-bastard paraded his daughter out like that….. I do feel sorry for his family, as far as him being a barbarian, I doubt that, his wife could probably kick his limp-wristed ass. These pseudo christian-facist types need to be purged from our society, they give Christianity a bad name.

  • Frank

You liberal atheist wackjobs are going to lose this culture war and its men like the honorable Senator from Pennsylvania who will win it.
    ***********************************************
Ajay… Get with it, get liberal, or get out of my country…. PA where men are men and sheep are nervous…. Is it still legal to marry your sister back over in the hills there?

  • Ajay

This country was founded on Christian values and it was founded by Christian men. Men much like the great Senator Rick Santorum. You are only proving why people like you are a threat to this country, Frank and Nancy and others like you, with your hate-filled, volatile words. He is a wonderful man, and god bless him. We haven’t heard the last of Rick Santorum. I suspect when Brownback gets the nomination, he’ll pick his good friend, and confidante to be his running mate. Brownback-Santorum ’08!

  • Jesus Winslow

    What Christian value was slavery?

What Christian value was not allowing people of color and women to vote?

    Is racism a Christian value?

The country was founded partially because of religious persecution and, although not killing and not stealing are Christian values, I believe there’s also a couple of other religions that hold the same values. But what’s really cool is that whole freedom of religion thing.

The problem with Santorum and the Christian right is that their Christian values are to be legislated (Terri Schiavo, abortion, gay marriage) and the separation of church and state is seen as an obstacle, not protection from a theocracy.

It would be great to see those Christian values like helping the poor being legislated as opposed to telling everyone the way they should live because God says so.

When Catholics and Protestants in Ireland prayed during the height of the conflict, was it to the same God?

God blesses all countries. God is not a nationalist.

  • AJay

Not all the founders were slave-owners first of all. Second of all, the democrats have completely lost sight of any sense of faith. Abortion-on-demand is a disgusting disgrace to this country.

  • Frank

This country was founded by dietists not Christians…. George Washington refused to kneel to pray and also refused communion at his inaugration. Also Madison who is seen as the “Author” of the Speration clause of the first Ammendment as well as Jefferson voted against Thanksgiving become a national holiday under the premise that it “illegally intertwine church and state.” “People” like Ajay need to study history instead of rewriting it. And God would have nothing to do with “Sick Rick Sanatarium” I mean Rick Santorum…. Christian, I doubt it, isn’t he baptist or some other bastardized religion? Everyone knows Catholics are the oldest and truest of Christians. And Rick asked about getting a late term abortion for his wife and was advised not to because of who he is…… and he would loose support of all the “nuts”.

  • Clavos

This country was founded by dietists…

And they’ve been telling us what to eat ever since…

  • Frank

dietists or whatever sorry my bad

  • John

You people are all sick, twisted, hate-filled, evil, narrow-minded, bigoted, loathsome fools. Do you all realized how hideous you sound? Every one of you trolls makes me thank God I’m not on your side. Okay, so you disagree with Rick Santorum in politics. He lost. You won. Happy now? Or do you feel the urge to folllow him around the rest of his life, calling him names? Class? You moronic decadent creeps don’t know what that is. I know that “Ricky” has offended you orcs because he doesn’t think it should be legal to murder children…or that marriage shouldn’t be destroyed….or that we should actually fight evil men instead apologizing to them…but could you at least show some class in victory? Nah, I didn’t think so.

  • Ajay

    Amen John.

This country was founded by Christians, do your research. He refused communion because he knew that the church and the state should not be confused as one. Thanksgiving is in no way religious!

You are the one who is rewriting history.

I AM OUTRAGED that you would make such an accusation. That is completely false. 1- He would NOT do that. 2- I couldn’t find anything even vaguely in reference to that. You need serious help, you’re saying that Rick Santorum would kill his own baby when he is one of the most ardent opponents of that. There is anot a malevolent bone in his body.

  • http://positivelyright.com/ Leatherneck

Wow… it’s kinda obvious who the haters are in this forum, huh?

I dunno Senator Santorum or his family, but I can certainly disagree with any person without resorting to the poison pen, misrepresenting history, or engaging in ad hominem attacks–the final refuge of shallow thought.

Let’s reason together to solve the serious problems faced by our country and the world. Nearly all people want the same end result… peace and prosperity for all. I have no doubt that’s true of both Casey AND Santorum. Our disagreements are really about the means not the ends.

  • brain

I do not hate santorum for his religion beliefs as this country is all about reilgion beliefs and freedom, what i hate ricky for is his voting record which always goes aginst the working class people always voting aginst raising the min wage and blamimg union people for the downfall of companys because as ricky said they the working class make to much money for the work they do, Well fuck him on that and thats why i never voted for the dude and never will as he sits on his high pedestal with that silver spoon in his big mouth, Poor ole ricky should have known that pennsylvania is a working mans state, Good ridins to bad trash and i hope that senate door did kick him in the ass on his way out.

  • Bob

I just came across this thread and it disgusts me that I am associated with the majority of you people in that I am an American. You comment about family matters that none of you had any witness too. It shows the complete degredation of the value people put in life in this country when they mock a man and his wife for acknowlidging a life lost and sharing that acknowledgement with their children. It is not kook, freak stuff, it is not “child abuse”, they didn’t sit the kid at the dinner table and pretend to have conversation with him while the former Senator played puppet with strings from the ceiling. You people are bitter, clueless, and lack any knowledge of the principles that this country was founded on.

I pray for all of you who have taken the immature schoolground route to attacking Mr. Santorum.

  • MarkThomas

What a homely family. OMG, you know there is some kink in this family. I would not be shocked to hear of child molestation going on within there family.

  • ShellyWilliams

This man looks gay to me. He should come out. I love all of my gay friends.
