What with Neil Morse, formerly of Spock’s Beard, doing Christian spiritual prog fairly successfully, there must be a market for this stuff. The fact that the band’s name used to be Divine Disciple is a good clue to their aim. Majestic Vanguard are not as good as Morse, which is no shock, but they do produce a fairly good slice of power prog on this ten track release. Thankfully they keep things fairly tight and flowing, so it does not sound as if you are being preached at. While none of it could be said to be that original, there is nothing on here that is horrid. I think it might take the band one more release to get it properly together but this is a competent, if predictable, power metal release. One for the more adventurous amongst you, to keep you busy until the new Helloween is released.
