I reached out to the thousands of friends on MySpace and asked them if they would be interested in answering some questions — nothing too personal, just standard questions that might give us a peek into their lives. Several people responded and I plan on doing full write ups on them all. If you are interested in answering a few general, fun questions, email me or leave a comment.
One of the first people to respond was Theo Kousoulis. Theo was born in 1977 and graduated from Deptford High School in 1995. He taped Average Joe: Hawaii in the summer of 2003, but was sworn to secrecy. He also sidelines as a fashion photographer.
He took time out to answer my pesky questions, and for that alone, you should check his MySpace page and leave a comment. Besides, he has some amazing shots of models on his page… Run, don’t walk.
I enjoy anyone who can make a musical composition, which helps me lift my mood or move my body. In the hip hop realm, I respect artists like Eminem, Tupac, and Jay Z; guys who had nothing and make something out of whatever they had. They moved not only people but mountains of energy with their emotional music.
2. What song/CD(s) are you listening to now?
Currently, I am listening to Cold as Ice. There's something about "Ice Ice Baby" I'm just not over yet. I think everyone is just in denial when they say they think that's whack. I bet they all bob their heads to it still.
3. What's the strangest thing that has happened to you lately?
Some guy emailed me from out of nowhere, asking me to fill out ten questions and said if I didn't fill them out, in seven days I'd be dead. I didn't even have to see a video on it. He said, I'd just be dead. so I had to do this. [Good idea! You have extended your life!]
4. If you could be any superhero, who would you be and why?
Wonder Woman. Only because I'm amazed at how a model-looking lady in the '80s, with high heel platform boots, pantyhose, and a yellow lasso can fight crime and still not see a chiropractor for a bad back and neck at the end of a day's hard work. Obviously, she knows some trade secret the LAPD doesn't.
5. Where you at?
Right now I'm enjoying having fun directing, photographing, singing, dancing, kicking midgets in the nose, tossing babies over the playground gym set. You know, the norm… oh, and developing artists, bands, models, actors into a better them. See my site, everyone. I help the industry get their image upgraded through some bad ass imagery. Also we have a new music video coming out in 2007 called "The Main Attraction," with hot sexy models. You wouldn't want to see that, would you? Hmm, behind the scenes on my MySpace profile.
6. Everybody is a hater. What/who do you hate? (Pet Peeves, gripes, complaints, etc.)
I don’t hate, though I dislike very much the fact I walk down Hollywood Boulevard at 2 am and me and my girl get attacked by a guy in a large funny hat who wants to rhyme my name into a rap while staring at ma' girl's behind. I dislike very much also the fact that the homeless aren't really homeless. Hollywood Boulevard is their home. So technically, they live there year-round. So there. Oh, also, I dislike the fact that advertisements always use happy, sexy people when they are really trying to sell you death in a box (cigarettes, for example).
7. Where you at and what are you up to? (Any upcoming shows, releases, and projects you want to plug)
Shout out to my hot models for staying sexy and showing me what they're working with. Shout out to Big Bird on Sesame Street; couldn’t do it without you, man, all those valuable hints on the alphabet. Man, you da bomb. My boy Maurice from L.A. Clubber who helped make our first video so successful, and to the big guy upstairs for giving me life to live the dream.
8. Saturday morning cartoons: when you were a kid, what was your favorite?
Anything with superheroes — Batman, Superman. Batman was my favorite when they also included Wonder Woman. Wowza.
9. What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Is there such a thing as not working? I never got the memo or fax on this. Who must I fire?
10. Where would you be if you could be anywhere in the world? Favorite travel spot?
Greece, baby… nowhere else.
11. Are you the same Theo who was on Average Joe in '04?
I watched some of the show, but missed a lot of it.
12. Did you get to spend any quality time with Larissa and take her away from the Average Joes?
Ha-ha, yeah, what a show. Don't believe anything you see on TV, or NBC, for that matter. It's all in the name of entertainment. As you can see, I like acting, and love the camera. I had to cause drama, which was my purpose.
That’s it. Check him out by visiting the sites below and tell him Q sent you. Theo’s life depends on it!
MySpace Music Spotlight
Here's a short list of some MySpace Music pages that thump a little harder than the rest. Make sure you add them to your page and tell them Big Q sent you!
Boot Camp Clik - Everything a BCC fan could ever ask for is on this one page. Videos from damn near everybody on Duck Down reps on their MySpace Page.
Leggezin Fin – The universal solider has his MySpace page up and running with the ill track "Afro Killer Bees" feat. Kinetic, Prodigal Sunn, Chi-King, and more Wu Tang Family members. Check his site for more!
Angelique Kidjo - The world famous African singer has her own MySpace page with four amazing songs. Take a trip to Africa without leaving your desktop. Visit her page and remind yourself how much you love her cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile".
DJ Chief Rocka - The Tennessee Titan Core DJ got it on lock in Ten A Ki, and his MySpace page is hella tight. With cuts by Project Pat, his page is worth the add!
Google Video Picks – a short list of some hip-hop related videos found at Google
It's Goin' Down (video) BET VERSION Amended Album Version audio – Yung Joc - Crunk radio hit by Young Joc.
White & Nerdy - Weird Al Yankovic – Weird Al is back in stride with his latest cover. This one mocks Chamillionaire's "Riding Dirty".
Groundhog Day f/ Cee-Lo Green & DJ Craze (video) – Mayday A two-step styled banger with Cee-Lo providing the hooks. Very nice.
Flossin' (Video) – Mike Jones (Featuring Big Moe) Not to be confused with Reverend Haggard's friend, this is the Mike Jones who you didn't want back then.
RIP to one of the best to ever do it. This video was not one of his best, but it's a nice little reminder of him, anyway.
A throwback hip-hop classic for you. Back then, Charlie was the star while Busta always had the flow you could count on to rip it at the end of the track. "Sobb Story" is one of the group's best tracks.
It's amazing how funny some videos look now, long after they have been made. This track was killing them on Hot97 back in the day (or night, actually). It was a huge club hit with an amazingly silly looking video.
Another amazing throwback track that looks funny as hell now! The aforementioned Charlie Brown represents on this, but might have been outshined by the classic Old Dirty Bastard verse.
Jay-Z endorsed hip-hop rock super outfit Fort Minor bring the noise with this cut. I think most people sleep on this style of rap, but it is some classic arena rock-ready stereophonic that needs to be heard. It's polished, razor sharp, and on point.
Webslinging – Some hot post on various blogs I've stumbled on.
RIP Ed Bradley
Gerald Levert, RIP – Patti LaBelle and Gerald Levert tribute to Luther Vandross
