It is a black Monday for the Liberal party of Canada. First my salutations to a man I have never met, but desire to meet now more than ever. I have heard great stories about his values and ethics and his sticking to his commitments and not becoming a turncoat due to political pressure especially, when he supported buddy Akaash’s candidacy for the president of Liberal Party. I was impressed by how he did not come down with a wall of pressure. So Sir, I bow to you; you have left an everlasting impression on me on the importance of values among politicians.
This definitely caught many people by surprise. The question now is where we go from here. Here is a list of potential candidates, whose names keeping coming up and my views on them
Tobin-I have good reasons to believe that Tobin will not be running, but that might change now with the departure of McK. I have tried to make contact with a couple of people, but have not heard back--should I be surprised that they are not picking up the phone?
Belinda- She might one day buy her way into becoming the leader of the party, but this is not the time for her--I think even Barbie can do better if it ran. A fresh turncoat and strongly entrenched with the corporate bigwigs, Belinda will be seen with suspicious eyes until she can prove herself and prove okay realistically; what is she, a Harvard grad or at least a UofT grad, frigging needs a calculator to find out what is 7+5? I guess her kids would have spent more time in school than her. She has to work the ropes in the party and prove herself, and any attempts by her to buy her way into the leadership will prove detrimental for future leadership attempts.
Brison- Brilliant, astute politician who can debate policy and articulate on issues in a progressive way. Is that good enough to win the leadership? Probably not. I think with the same-sex marriage issue fresh and Canadians split on the issue, many people are going to say “Brison is intelligent but he has to wait for his time”. I will support him simply because he is a man of principles and he is fit to lead the party, but I’m not sure how he would fare with other candidates who have asked for support.
