ZZ News: A poll published by Al-Sabaah, an Iraqi newspaper in Baghdad, indicates that at least among Iraqis polled, many may be willing to take on the risks necessary to wrench back control of their nation. Even in a dangerous, quasi democratic election... [unconfirmed story]
"Reader Haider Ajina emailed us the results of a poll published in the Iraqi Arabic newspaper Alsabaah, showing that the mujahideen have failed to dissuade Iraqis from voting:" - LGF
The poll was of 4974 Iraqis living in and around Baghdad.
The following is the translation of the poll and the results:
Will the security problems cause you to?
Not come out and vote the day of elections = 18.3%
Come out and vote the day of elections = 78.3%
No opinion = 3.4%Do you support the Iraqi Government having its own official newspaper?
Yes = 67.7%
No = 30.9%
Do Not know = 1.4%?Do you support military action against the terrorists?
Yes = 87.7 %
No = 11.1%
Don't Know = 1.2%
It is really hard not to support these brave people. They are displaying an increased level of courage and are willing to stand up to the increased levels of violence to take their country back! We hear reports of police and army deserters and political councils being abandoned out of fear. We are not sure how reflective these numbers are of the mainstream but nevertheless, some positive information on the subject and prospect for the Jan 30th election is refreshing.
P.S. In a not so well covered upcoming election, the suggestions of the new Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abaas this past Saturday are characterized in satire by Cox & Forkum. An election we suspect that will not see much disruptive "insurgency" if Mr. Abaas's statements are genuine!
What a contrast!

There's no poll at your link. Where's the poll?

Judging by the article posted, the original poll would have been written in Arabic, in those curly letters the Iraqi use in their newspapers, such as "the Arabic newspaper Alsabaah". Z.Z. Bachman gave us the results of the poll.

Are you able to read Arabic? It was translated in what I posted above by Haider Ajina.
