I just watched a video taken directly from the Latino demonstrations in numerous cities across America in March and April 2006. The leaders of these demonstrations, if you want to call them that, are clearly telling the people to go home and have babies, Mexican babies, so they can take back America through population domination. You can see and hear the video for yourself. Just go to this site and click on The Nation of Aztlan.
If you think this is just about jobs for poor under privileged Latinos who want to feed their families, you are sadly mistaken. It is about the taking back of California and Texas — and eventually all of America — by Mexicans who feel it was stolen from them by our forefathers.
After you listen to this video, think about what kind of country your children and grandchildren will live in. Think about how they will survive in a country where they will be the minority and they could be forced to speak Spanish.
If you think I am a racist and just plain crazy just look at two simple statistics, which you can verify for yourself on the Internet, if you want.
- Los Angeles County is now 52% Latino
- 78% of all students in The Greater Los Angeles Unified School District are Latino
Why am I concerned, you ask? Because I grew up in Los Angeles during the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, when it was a beautiful, clean, wonderful city to live in. Today it looks just like a Mexican ghetto in Tijuana or any other Mexican slum. The rich fat cats in Congress or in Beverly Hills don’t care, because THEY don’t have to live in those areas or drive through them. But sooner or later it will catch up to them and unfortunately to all of us.
Three other points I want to make. First: when our forefathers came to this country, lawfully, they passed through Ellis Island. Why? Not because we wanted to let them see New York or New Jersey, but because we could give them a thorough medical exam to make sure they were not carrying typhus, tuberculosis, cholera, or some other type of plague. Plus we could do a limited criminal background check, not like we can today, but we could do something. Today, illegal immigrants have brought hepatitis and tuberculosis into America. It is showing up in hospitals and clinics primarily in the border states. But soon, it will spread across America. Legal immigration does not allow this to happen!

Bob, I can't quite help but wonder if you'd be this incensed if the current crop of immigrants, legal or otherwise, were of white European descent.
2 - Bob Greenspan
Yes, Lisa I would if they destroyed my beautiful Country as I remember it used to be. If they spoke English, Dutch, Portugese, Spanish, Russian, Afrikaans, whatever. If they trash my Country, turn it into a slum, take the benefits and make me have to speak in any language except the language of America, ENGLISH, I would be just as incensed. It is not about where they came from. It is about how they got here - illegally - and what they have done after they got here! Who do you think Vicente Fox is sending north? They are his uneducated, uninsured, unemployed and unskilled! If we told Mexico we were going to send them all of our uneducated, uninsured, unemployed and unskilled Vicente Fox would BUILD A WALL! Thank you for your comment.

Are you racist? I have no idea. But I find it difficult to understand why the option of hearing a phone message in Spanish makes you feel threatened. The service providers and retailers who provide that option are simply recognizing that a large part of their customers (or potential customers) are Spanish speakers. They are assuming that the latter would be more comfortable doing business in their primary language. Nobody is asking someone whose primary language is English to push that second button.
Those orchestrating the demonstrations you speak of could potentially inflame popular sentiment and cause some harm, it's true. But I think both you and they overestimate their sway-- and seriously underestimate how much those they are trying to sway have already been assimilated by American culture.
I'm not saying we should just sit back and let things work themselves out. The national legislation now pending on immigration is, on the whole, a reasonable response to a serious problem. And we should be very wary of demagogues of all kinds.
But if the kind of domination by population you are worried about was actually possible, wouldn't it have already happened? There has been a sizeable Latino population in the American southwest for many generations, particularly in cities like Los Angeles, as you note. The possibility of social / cultural "takeover" by sheer numbers has existed for some time.
I argue that it has not come about because Spanish / Mexican-Americans think (or even feel) of themselves as primarily American. That though they recognize and are proud of their foreign roots, they have been assimilated at a very basic level.
Perhaps the U.S. is not the "great melting pot" we once were. Perhaps we have allowed divisions to form under the umbrella of such PC terms as "cultural diversity". But the dominant society and culture of this nation is still remarkably uniform. That seems a testament both to its flexibility and stability. I believe the current wave of immigrants, legal and otherwise, will be asimmilated as throughally as their predecessors.

Fine post. Of course, you'll be called all sorts of names for pointing out these politically-incorrect facts. That's merely the price one pays to speak the truth and stand up for something worthwhile...

You completely miss the point.
The very fact that businesses feel obligated to provide Spanish-language customer service is indicative of that FACT that a significant portion of the US population DOESN'T UNDERSTAND ENGLISH, but instead ONLY UNDERSTANDS SPANISH.
And these people are almost ALL illegals. Because, you know, part of the official test for citizenship in the US requires that applicants be able to converse a little in English...

Immigrants of the past had children who fled the ghettos that the immigrants themselves had formed in the new country. They were eager to abandon the faith, culture and language of their parents. This was their idea of progress, to slough off the dead hand of the past, a past that had proven so onerous to the immigrants that they had to leave the country of their birth to survive and prosper. And they were right. Would that these new (illegal) immigrants had such progressive ideas, but alas they seem all to eager to import the failed culture of their origins.

Now this my friends, this is a challenge! how to respond to this without a 20 page sermon.
Bob, your anger isn't about race, and you're not a racist, if your anger isn't about race. It's CULTURE... not race
In America, we worship one god above all others-"Majority Rules". If I moved to Spain, I'd have to learn spanish damned quick. An American woman in Saudi Arabia wouldn't last a day without a burka. Their CULTURE is different than ours, so if we don't accept their's in their country, we're going DOWN.
You get the idea.
When europeans came to America, they became "us". It wasn't their race we accepted, it was their willingness to leave their own culture, language, and tradition, to take on our's.
Because of the laws, mexicans don't HAVE to do that, so all of us are now sitting around like Native American Indians wringing our hands watching our culture and language disappear before our eyes.
You want to see what a Mexican immigrant is SUPPOSED to look and feel like. Tune into the National Geographic Channel and watch the "Dog Whisperer"
Ceasar Milan learned our language, brought up his kids to be Americans, took a seemingly useless talent for knowing how dogs think, and turned it into a respected and useful profession. NOT because he was "Uncle Tom"ing it, but because he knew that's what it takes to earn respect, and be American in America.
We get mad, and a little paranoid, when we see a group of women leading a pack of kids through Walmart, wearing burkas and babbling at them in Arabic-Why?-because they're throwing it our faces that they came here, but they don't want to be ONE OF US! We resent the mexicans, because if we're not careful, we could be another New Orleans, because illegal mexican construction workers are changing the CULTURE of New Orleans, not the RACE of it...
I guess that makes me a "Culturist"
...but that's only my opinion

As I've written before, the demand for cheap labor by AMERICAN businesses in search of the almighty Profit is what's continuing this problem.
I seriously doubt the suggestion that America will be "forced to speak Spanish" to the degree that the official language would change. I agree that immigration should be controlled, and there should be an enforced process for entering America. A work visa program would allow some of the more skilled immigrants to enter and make a decent legal wage; but this won't cure the problem unless all demand for sub-minimum wages are stifled. America's worship of Profits makes that unlikely, even with citizen action.
A word about assimilation: A permanent immigrant can be expected to assimilate somewhat, but it's unrealistic to expect them to suddenly denounce their home culture and embrace everything American. It just doesn't work that way. Irish immigrants maintain St. Patty's Day festivals--do you disagree with that? Overgrown nationalism is what leads to views like this.
Our Nation is made up of a number of cultural backgrounds, all of which were immigrants at some point. Should we only allow immigrants from certain countries? Some of your views here border on racist.

800 Americans are working or interning at information technology companies in India and soon most probably many Americans will go to China and India if the economy of these two countries really surpass American economy after 50 years.
11 - Sam Jack
But isn't the proliferation of Spanish language signs and messages just a product of your beloved capitalism Bob?
You talk about American culture as if it's something that was handed down from the gods on a marble pedestal, but actually it's the product of a whole bunch of poor, uneducated people who came here so that they could... sit around on their lazy bums and screw up the 'beautiful, clean, wonderful cities'? No. So they could improve themselves, and the Mexicans are the same.
There's no way to keep them out short of building the great wall of china on the border. The only thing we can do is help them become productive citizens once they're in.
And you claim that your comments are racist, but they are. 'any other Mexican slum'? You assume the Mexicans to be naturally degenerate, which is so much BS. People have been saying what you're saying since the early 1500s, and we have not, as yet, turned into a swillpit because of immigration. People are people wherever you go.
12 - Michael S. Hartman
Not bothered by button #2? Consider this. Bush waved his hand and the illegal immigrants in 2000 became legal. He was pushed over the top by the Hispanic vote. A Iowa politician went down to the southern border to champain for the Hispanic vote. In the past there was a fight for the largest minority Black vote. Now Hispanics are the largest. Do you think they will offend them? Make them legal and you have instant voters. Its no suprise that industry wants cheap labor, and industry supports candidates. Politicians work for those that put, and keep them in office.
In my area we have stayed over 7% unemployment, yet the Hispanic population increases. Citizens line up for jobs, yet went cheap labor comes around the citizens suddenly are "lazy" and "don't want to do the work." When New Orleans citizens complained that they were not allowed to repair their homes, a Hispanic crane operator claimed the citizens were lazy. Would you be lazy about fixing your home? Mexican supervisors hire Mexicans.
Wake up and smell the chili, then press #2 for English.
By the way the men behind 9-11 were illegal immigrants. Want to pass a illegal immigration amnesty bill? If the mexicans, then why not the Iranians?
13 - Al Barger
Mr Greenspan, I'm not impressed with this bunch of, yes, racist nonsense. I'm fairly racially insensitive - thank you very much - but this is some xenophobic crap.
This business about us being "at war" is really particularly objectionable. Cleaning hotel rooms for half what any native born American would accept is not an act of war. How about we save declarations of war for, say, people who want to kill US?
Moreover, this broad conspiracy to take over America is some nonsense. I doubt that many of the poor schmoes working as busboys and gardeners are part of some big goddamned conspiracy to overrun the white man. There might be a few cheesy "leaders" talking a bit of Mexican nationalist foolishness, but that crap is the farthest thing from a hotel chambermaid's mind.
Which is not to say that there aren't problems with this massive and unregulated immigration, but jumpin' Jebus man. "Fuck them" to all these people cause you hate to hear a few seconds of Spanish now and then? What the hell's wrong with you?
14 - Al Barger
Michael Hartman (comment 12), don't be such a total jackass, please. "By the way the men behind 9-11 were illegal immigrants." Yeah, a poor Mexican trying to feed his kids is JUST THE SAME as an Islamic radical come to commit hari kari.
That's some ugly, dishonest, repugnant crap you're talking there.
15 - Andy Marsh
Al - does the U.S. have a national language? Shouldn't it be the one that's used in business and daily life? Wouldn't it be a better idea for business to just offer a different 800 number for "other" languages?
I just don't think it's fair to bust on a guy because he doesn't wanna hear a message he understood perfectly over again in another language that he shouldn't have to hear and doesn't understand. Why are english speaking Americans being punished because someone else didn't properly assimilate into our society? When I was in Germany last year I was lucky to find plenty of people that spoke english...but I promise you, I never expected that before I got there and I had no right to either. I met a lot of russians and ukranians while I was in Germany also. You know what language they spoke? They usually spoke three...their home country's language, German and English...so...in Europe, people can learn the home country language AND english, but we shouldn't espect that here?
We are one of the few countries that even offer things like this. Go to Japan! See how many signs that don't say Sony or Toshiba are in any other langauge than Kanji.
I think what bothers me more though is that fact that I can't hold a conversation with the hotels maids anymore when I'm on the road!

Al #14, for someone who seems to flaunt staunch adherance to the law, I'm suprised at you. In the eyes of the law, they ARE the same.
I find your hyprocracy, and your high and mighty attitude ugly, dishonest, and repugnant crap
But just because I say it is, doesn't make it so
...but of course that's only my opinion

Assimilation in this country is now an option, not a requirement; just look at Miami: there are so many Cubans there, a person can literally go from birth to death without ever having to leave the Hispanic community or speak a word of English. And many do.
One of the many not-so-covert reasons the Roman Catholic church so fervently supports & shields illegals - particularly Hispanic illegals - is because the high birth rate ultimately means more parishioners for the RC church, which translates into more power in the material/political world where the church is currently struggling against a population too educated to swallow all the hype the RC church puts out, all its excuses, and all its conniving. The preponderance of the ill-educated & credulous among the hordes of (mostly) RC illegals means a huge population the RC church will be easily able to influence politically as well as financially (my own experience with the RC church is that they don't give a damn about you or your soul, but they care very, very much about your wallet - how much you can be enticed or bullied into donating - and your value to them as a vote to be used against various politicos for various causes).
What all the illegal apologists overlook: having to provide services or information, whether taped, printed, or broadcast, in another language such as Spanish, costs MONEY. It automatically adds an additional layer of costs to anything, which in the end means increasing the already-heavy burden of taxes to pay for all this "free" assistance for those who are too stupid, too ignorant, too lazy, or too arrogant to learn to speak English. Furthermore, it's only in the US that aliens expect & DEMAND that everything be provided in their language. In Italy, Saudi Arabia, Japan, or anywhere else, such a demand would be laughed out of countenence, & the demander quickly disabused of the notion he's entitled to it.
Illegals from every quarter are responsible for serious increases in a much broader spectrum of formerly eradicated (in the US, at least) diseases and conditions besides TB & hepatitus. Thanks to illegals, we are also seeing a resurgence of polio, cholera, and such exotics even as Ebola. Illegals by their nature are the least hygenically educated persons in their culture, and they carry this lack of training & good hygiene habits with them as part of their cultural baggage, in addition to their bacterial & viral baggage brought from their points of origin. This in turn adds yet more costs to those that can be attributed to illegals: the cost of public health & prevention. If, not when, a pandemic arrives, it won't come via wild birds, but from illegals, who tend to keep much closer personal contact with their livestock than is the norm among US-born persons.

actually, i just went to LA for the first time a couple of months ago. i found the place to be lovely. i was talking with a friend of mine who grew up there, and she said, "i'm glad you didn't come here years ago... it was a pit..."
she still loves the place though, and always has. she's always talking about LA, and wanting to move back...
19 - Andy Marsh
she was probably talking about when I was there! not that it was because I was there...

Many Americans may not be ready for a war with Mexico, but Mexico is definately at war with us. My first evidence was the realization that there are enough of his citizens in Chicago to make it a campaign stop for Vincente Fox in his run for reelection as president of that country. I recently read an article by Heather MacDonald which further explains the gravity of the situation. I'll admit that I haven't taken the time to verify every little point made in the article. But, if even half of it were true, persons who would make comments similar to the third one in this thread would be well advised to rethink their position.
23 - Heloise
What is this wholesale illegal leeway really about? I think it is about legislators wanting to greatly increase the population of this country for reasons that have not come to fruition. I think that it is illegals now for war later.
That is possible when the real ID takes effect in the year 2008 and everyone will be better tracked. There are two possible scenarios: 1) the new "citizens" will be sent to the front of dangerous wars where they will be the ones most likely to die first or 2) the country will have enough of a labor pool to allow our American boys to go over to a war where they will be killed in great numbers.
And the country will not have to worry because we will have population enough here to keep things going. That is the scenario I think is shaping up and will come to pass within the next five years. They will come and they will be sent off to fight wars on real foreign lands.

Well, I've read all that has been said..and I must say myself, that it really sucks when you go to the gym and there is mexican music playing, or you want to just shop at walmart, but all of TJ is in there...I thought they were poor??hmmm I have been turned down for jobs that I am qualified for because I don't speak spanish..why are all the illegals learning english in our public schools, and yet the schools do not teach our children spanish..so I have to PAY for them to learn spanish so they can have a fair chance at a good paying job..There is all kinds of ESL classes for free...I will probably be called a "Racist" for this but let me set the record straight I am native american and Italian, my mother is second generation Italian born in this country...and I am married to a black man...I thought about moving to appalachia...but I would have to worry about...the hooded kind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks for validating my feelings.

If we're at war I certainly hope it's against the kind of ignorant bigotry displayed in this article. That kind of soft racism in a thin disguise is the more serious threat to our nation.
