To profile or not to profile?

Well, here is what I did. I warmed up my dual processor Mac, then I made a spreadsheet of all the terror suspects we have caught. I then input their weight, where they are from, skin tone - light, medium or dark - area of the world they are from and language spoken. The results are as follows:

What we are looking for is a 62-year-old Italian grandmother, carrying heavy bags, medium skin tone, heavy build, dark hair, flying one way to any city, with smuggled produce in her luggage. She may have taken "Canes For Self Defense" or other martial arts courses, she can run a hundred yards in about 12 seconds, she can sight in a scope on a sniper rifle in the dark, and can cook up a fine pasta. She may be wearing heavy clothing in the summer and rides the subways frequently. Right!

Now the actual results*:

  • Height: 5' 9.5" 84%
  • Medium to dark complexion 92%
  • Chance of Middle Eastern heritage 89%
  • Weight: 165.8 pounds 89%
  • Size 9 shoe 79%
  • Hair black 99%
  • Well built, almost athletic 72%
  • May have a Koran in possesion 64%
  • May wear a sufi 39%
  • May be perspiring 52%
  • Wearing large back pack and/or large loose fitting clothing 79%
  • Wearing running type shoes 62%
  • Is here illegally 71%
  • Is a student at American University 42%
  • Has bank account link to Saudi Arabia 67%
  • Has been to a mosque in the last week 91%

Clearly profiling should not be allowed because it points the finger directly at one group of people - that can not be correct.

Can it ?

I have to laugh at the anti-profiling ninnies, alleged civil rights protectors and various and sundry moonbats screaming about profiling.

If they were carjacked by an Asian, an Arab, or a Black-American [enter your prefered race here] they wouldn't say dog squat when the police all points bulletin (APB) that went out describing the perp as "an Asian, an Arab, or a Black-American [enter your prefered race here]"

They all need to just shut the hell up and the politicians need to quit appeasing them and get on with the business of protecting ALL Americans.

with your logic, let's assume the carjacker was black. Now what the U.S. wants to do is assume that all black people are carjackers, and therefore, target the entire black population, including the ones in Africa, the ones in China... get it?

A man walks into a bar, spots a beautiful blonde in the corner.

She's wearing gap jeans, a nice summer halter top.

She's slowly sipping a white wine.

    Nice look, refreshing.....

    OHSHITSHEHASJUSTBEENPROFILED!!!!

Will he strike up a conversation? Based on the profile, he will.

    He likes blondes.

    He like casually dressed blondes.

She's not downing shots of tequila... shows control.

Neat in appearance, clean, skin has a healthy glow....

Did she have friends with her?

    What did they look like?

    Smoke?

    Hope not.

    He wonders where she works.

He feels the desire to start a conversation with her.

He orders his drink and proceeds to the area where she is sitting.

    PROFILING? You bet.

We all do it, all the time.

    What's your point?

yes, we do it all the time. But does that make it right? how many of those beautiful blondes turned out to be the person you expected? WTF?

ochairball: you can bet your ass that when I drive through south fulton county Atlanta I will lock my doors, roll up my windows, drive faster, and pretend that I don't notice all of the black thugs staring at me as I drive by. You are preaching a gospel that will never catch on.

What makes it right? What makes it NOT right.

Did too! Did not! Did too! Did not!

    What's you're point hairball?

To profile or not to profile... that is the question. Not whether it's right or not.

Since we all profile... it could be innate.

Since it's innate... (and now the dynamic fuckin' question).....

Is it right? That's the lame assed question.

okay, let's put it this way. it's not right and in the long run it will do more harm than good. So we shouldn't be profiling.
Once we start doing that, the "evil doers" will start recruiting mountain people from West Virginia (if they haven't already.) Then who are we going to profile?

  • 8 - WTF

    Aug 10, 2005 at 8:05 pm

Did you just profile West Virginians?
