The Sun Will Come Out

I know there are many of you out there who are sad, depressed, dejected and demoralized - don't worry, John, surely there's a church choir out there who could use your services.

But seriously folks - while it's certainly disturbing that so many people who claim to be "Christian" chose a man who lived a good portion of his life engaging in every vice under the sun to be their chosen leader - it is NOT the end of the world. This country has had many leaders - some good, some not so good and some that were just plain awful - from both parties, and we have managed to thrive, prosper and go on.

I will be honest, I was mad and sad yesterday. I was mad that a number of Americans just don't GET IT and sad that a man who had lived his entire life for just one moment had to walk away empty-handed.

But today I realized that when it all comes down to it, we are, as John Kerry said, all Americans - and that is a great and wonderful thing.

President Bush won fair and square, and while the outcome may be disappointing to many of us, this is democracy. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Hopefully, the next four years will be HIGHLY uneventful and President Bush will go on his merry way and we can finally move on into a more moderate realm of reality and a unprecedented realm of prosperity.

I believe in the goodness of this country and the people that live in it, and holding on to my sadness or disappointment merely robs me of my precious years on this planet.

Now, if the right would just step off my nucksack and be gracious winners - maybe JUST FUCKING MAYBE, we can get to doing what we as Americans do best: being the best.

To be fair, I agree the right shouldn't be rubbing it in, but the left should just leave it alone and move on.

very nice job Dawn, and I know it is difficult for you to surmount the disappointment - I do think the onus is on the victors to be magnanimous: they, um, won

Bryan - I'd like to think that's what I am doing - but put the shoes on the other foot - can you imagine how the right would be reacting were they the losers?

It's human nature to be resentful - and honestly what would go a long way to make me feel better about the whole thing would be an end to the Kerry bashing - the guy is an admirable figure and he did his best.

Being a good winner is far more significant than being a sore loser and I suspect that if the right gave a little more we could all meet in the middle somewhere.

Well put Dawn. I agree, Kerry was incredibly gracious and much more willing to step away from the ring without being a sore loser than Bush ever would. I look up to him for his sportsmanship and he took it well. Lets move on...
