The Minutemen Project and the "La Reconquista" Lie - Page 2

This is why it's important to understand the Reconquista pitch, because they use it to create a heightened state of emergency.

'We are under foreign attack! Kill dem Mexicans!'

And in case you haven't been keeping score at home, lately the Minutmen have also come out of the closet, so to speak. At a recent event, they unfurled an American flag alongside the Southern Cross Flag next to, you guessed it, the Nazi Party flag! (Finally, some people on the right wing who are actually honest...sick and twisted, but honest. Kudos to the Nazi Minutemen for setting an example all right wingers can follow.)

Yup, so if you're keeping score, they believe in La Reconquista, Naziism, and murdering people who are, at worst, committing a petty offense. So, as hateful as these people are, you would think that our government wouldn't want to promote their cause, right? WRONG!

On July 28, U.S. Rep. John Culberson of Houston, Texas introduced a federal bill to fund armed militias to catch people trying to illegally cross from Mexico and Canada. (Yeah, I'm sure these guys are really bothered by the Canadian illegal immigrants...yeah right.) The bill would authorize the use of $6.8 billion dollars for militias. Thats right, billion, not million. So its kind of substantial in scope, you could say. Oh yeah, the bill already has 48 Republican co-sponsors.

In case you forgot, "scapegoating" is just one of the 14 elements of a fascist regime.

US policy towards illegal immigrants won't change anytime soon because it's in the financial interest of too many people to have a flexible source of low-paid, unskilled workers.

That was a disturbing article. I have never heard of a "La Reconquista" by Mexicans or by this Minutemen group. If I
remember my history correctly, this should be about Aztlan, a mythical land invented by a drunken Spanish sailor and passed on as Mexican folklore, or something like that. Where this individual gathered this racist connection, I have no idea. He's a sick puppy for sure.

How does this relate to our local Mexican pop music station called "La Invasora"?

I blogged about the Aryan connection to the Minutemen group about a year ago, including the most recent update in the comment section about an alleged occurrance of violence at the border.

La Invasora in relation to music? Come on, Dave. That is clearly crafted by someone who went to an American marketing school.

Illegal immigration is a problem, yes, but the current reaction we are having to it on the border is going to bring about far worse consequences than the initial problem.

28% of all jobs created in the last year went to illegal immigrants, wages have been flat or falling for years, schools and hospitals are loosing billions providing care and an education for illegals. my childs classroom does'nt have enough books for all the students but they have bi-lingual teachers for the illegals who don't even pay prperty tax to help pay for our schools. no, ther's no problem with the illegal immigrants in this country. give them another decade of a million a year and we will be a third world country too and you won't be able to afford the computer your now using

The Minutemen were formed by Jim Gilchrist and Chris Simcox. Neither of these men are racists or bigots. Besides spotting for and reporting to Border Patrol, Simcox's Homeland Defense has 143 documented cases of providing water and life support for illegal border crossers in trouble in the desert. Jim Gilchrist's son-in-law is Hispanic and HE knows Jim is not a racist. I have several Latinos in my family and they all supported me when I did my stint in the Minuteman Project in April. This is about crime and abuse of the US's generous social services. This illegal invasion is the largest mass fraud I've ever seen perpetrated on the American public by millions of third world mooches. I'm happy to debate anyone, anytime, anywhere on this issue.

How come you aren't going after the corporate employer for illegally hiring? If people are coming to this country for jobs, then why is the solution a bigger wall on the border? Makes no sense to me. Illogical response with drastic effects.

So Chris, tell me, what will the MinuteMen accomplish? By Dec. 1st, will the impoverished of the world shrug their shoulders and quit coming? WHAT exactly do YOU hope to accomplish by what you are doing?

Do you not see a simpler and safer way?

Well put, Chris. The truth is that the organization isn't racist, but inevitably, given the stand they've taken they're going to attract their quota of racists and nutjobs who share their position on immigration, but for different and less sensible reasons. That doens't mean that they are the same as those people.

    >>28% of all jobs created in the last year went to illegal immigrants,<<

Not the ones documented in the BLS statistics, which don't count illegal immigrants.

    >> wages have been flat or falling for years,<<

This is just not true. Even adjusting for inflation wages have been increasing steadily during the last few years.

actually, if you read the article I wrote, you will see where I link to proof that Chris Simcox believes the 'invasion' from Mexico is funded by the Red Chinese.

Someone said, "what do you think the minutemen will accomplish".....

ummm, how about the mainstream media talking about illegals everyday. Isn't that what they've said they've wanted from the beggining??? Seems like it worked. Hell, Fox News was interviewing them yesterday on national TV. I think it worked.

And don't kid yourself, you can find racists on both sides on the arguement, in fact, you are racist since you support everyone in Mexico comming into another country illegally.

I mean, that is the basis of you're statement, the underlying meaning, more more more more Mexicans, cause they look like me. ummm, that's racist.

David, are you talking to me or the crack in the wall? In comment 4, as well as in my original post, I clearly said that illegal immigration is a problem. Just because I disagree with your solution doesn't mean I don't see a problem.

I mean, that is the basis of you're statement, the underlying meaning, more more more more Mexicans, cause they look like me. ummm, that's racist.

what the hell are you talking about? I'm as white as a saltine cracker. Just because I am against violence as an answer does not mean I am, oh, geez, folks, and this is the shit that's on the border too.

comment 13 was in reply to comment 11.

in reply to comment 12, I can only say, 'they all are, Dave. They see what they want to see. I can say 'illegal immigration is a problem' and the very next time a person speaks to me, they accuse me of well, everything in comment 11.

They see what they want to see, and they want to see an invasion. Period. A cultural invasion. A border invasion. A economic invasion. Doesn't matter what you say, it only gets interpreted one way. Argh.

So, just support the Minutemen and they'll all love you, Steve. Based on what I've sene people support them for such diverse and bizarre reasons - many of them inherently incompatible - that anyone can sign on.

Dave, illegal immigration is a problem. I can not and will not ever support vigilantism in this manner, sorry.

  • 17 - Billy X

    Aug 19, 2005 at 9:51 pm

Standing on the border with a cell phone, a pistol, and a lawn chair is no more "vigilantism" than calling the police when you see a burglar at your neighbors.

Reconquista is a loosely used term, but in truth poll show that 64% of Mexican nationals (that are still in Mexico) feel part of the US belongs to them and it was stolen.

This is reinforced by pro-illegal immigration protestors screaming things like "We didnt cross the borders, the borders crossed us" and "You are the illegal pigrim", "F' the alamo!"

Then you have comments made by the founders of MECHA and La Raza (The Race).

Reconquista is not a conspiracy theory. It is the natural and historic pattern of forming separatist movements that form in territories that do not care to assimilate to the language and culture of the dominant nation.

Historical examples abound. If illegal immigration is not curtailed, the US will risk the loss of territory to a growing separatist movement that fails to recognize the territorial claims of the United States in the SW.

This article above is poorly written, deceptive, inaccurate, and defamatory to good hearted Americans and veterans that have fought to protect and preserve America.

PS: The flag photos above are not Minutemen or from a Minuteman Project event. The flags are displayed by members of Aryan Nation which are prohibited from participating in MMP events. It's true that some racists want to be with the Minutemen. The Minutemen have strict policies prohibiting their participation and background checks are done.

That we will not protect our own borders is a disgrace. That some Americans take action to draw attention to that disgrace should not be surprising. That the left seeks to paint such people as bigots is also not surprising.

If our government did what it was supposed to do, there would be no intimations of a Reconquista beause the problem would be small.

Neither the left nor the establishment right wants to address this issue honestly, or with a policy that will be in the best interest of the country.

    Steve,
Can you direct me to your article re: Simcox/Chinese Funding?
The Minuteman Project's main goal was to bring more attention to the illegal immigration problem. It did that. No doubt about it. And Gilchrist IS going after companies that "knowingly" hire illegal aliens.
Hey look, even Napolitano and Richardson have finally admitted to the severity of the crime and devastation. I am most bothered by the deceit of the pro-illegal groups. Just because people are fed up with crime and abuse they are labeled racists! It would be one thing to argue simply on the humanitarian plight of the immigrants, I could accept that.
But not acknowledging that the people sneaking in here have lived in a culture where government is corrupt and can't be trusted. So ripping off governent programs, not obeying the law is okay. Theft is necesary to survive, littering and trashing your neighborhood is acceptable. In Phoenix, EVERY SINGLE DAY I observe illegals breaking the law. I see my community transforming into a third world slum. We regularly hear gunshots in the distance, illegals dump their trash everywhere and everynight on the news it's 95% Hispanic crime. Phoenix was not like this 30 years ago when I moved here. My wife and I love vacationing in Mexico. We both speak the language.
BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS.

My article is linked to in comment 4. It is actually an article about a bigger movement, of which I consider the MinuteMen activities only the first skirmishes. Under the subtitle 'Death and Darkness' I talk briefly about Simcox. Search for his name on the page.

One of the links provided there is from the Anti-Defamation League. Here is the link to a pdf file of theirs.

    From page 11:

Preying on post-911 fears of terrorism, Simcox described illegal
immigration as an "invasion" and part of a larger conspiracy against
American security. Speaking at a meeting of the anti-immigration
group California Coalition for Immigration Reform in Garden Grove,
California, in March 2003, Simcox said, using New World Order
conspiracy rhetoric common in the militia movement, "There’s
something very fishy going on at the border. The Mexican army is
driving American Vehicles - but carrying Chinese weapons. I have
personally seen what I can only believe to be Chinese troops."

    ---

for the record, I have stated repeatedly that immigration is a problem. It gets tiring, because I don't agree with the vigilante response, to be accused of endorsing 'ripping off government programs and not obeying the law'.

We are being INVADED by Mexicans and if anyone can't see that, they are blind as a bat. It is bringing America down to a third world country. How will you like it when you get paid about HALF of what you are making now - or mabye even less? We used to take in about 200,000 LEGAL aliens a YEAR now it is at least a million that come in legally not counting the ones on the H-1B and L1 and visa lottery that come in. The H-1B gives them a permit to work here for six years then they can become a citizen often taking a HIGH_TECH job from a person that has worked at that company for years! It is NOT RIGHT for America!

    Aug 20, 2005 at 6:04 pm

sigh. Immigration is a problem yes, although the steps being taken now are not the solution in my opinion.

So now we have high-tech computer programmers and IT professionals running barefoot and dehydrated through the desert in order to find a better life. Okay, gotcha.

In terms of this comment, I've blogged here about my job already, but should reiterate since you brought it up.

I've recently had to switch to contract, and had my pay slashed almost 50 percent.

Nobody had to 'invade' the country to take my job, conservative bigwigs nicely shipped my job overseas, saving the computer geeks a dangerous trek through the desert, apparently.
